Ah yes, the new playable characters....
Is it just me or do the new playable characters (especially the Neera encounter in Beregost) make me want to vomit my gizzards right into the gutter, terrible voice acting and supremely shallow characters. Maybe it's just me? But as a fan from the original in 1998 I was dissapointed.

I think that Dorn, Rassad and Meera and generally more in context with BG. It's just to add to the arsenal of potential NPCs you can have join you.

True, I guess I never really thought of it like that. I'm kind of a ♥♥♥♥♥ for story content I won't lie lol.

I actually think they were better done than most characters in BG1. Most characters in BG1 are shallow, and there's just not that much to them. The focus was on exploration and dungeon-delving, not characters. BG2, however... that is a different story alltogether.

that being said, I'm not particularly fond of any of the new characters, but that's just because I'm attached to my regular NPC's: Minsc/Dyanaheir, Khalid/Jaheira, and Imoen.

There's a fourth new NPC in the game if you didn't already know....

Hint: You need to be level 5 and go to the tower in Larswood.

Personally, I rather like the new characters, their side-quests, and I thought have good voice-acting as well.

I'm enjoying their company. It's nice to have their company in a game I knew so well.

I personally think they are better than some of the old NPCs who didnt add a lot of story/character to the game.

I have to agree that Neera's voice acting sounds like poo poo, but otherwise it's nice to have more in the arsenal.

I've got no particular feelings about Dorn and the monk guy(Although the Monk guy felt pretty weak compared to other character), but Neera made me want to stab my ears. She feels like that ONE "annoyingly dim-witted girlish character hunted by random semi-evil faction" you always seem to find in modern party-based RPGs, whose sole role is to enforce empathy and appeal to the nerd crowds. I got the same vibe from Neeshka in Neverwinter Nights 2. Personally I can't stand 'em.

Rassad is weak early levels, but he gets stronger over time and he pubstomps virtually everyone in high levels because of his stat bonuses.

I agree Dorn and the others aren't too shabby, I guess it's just Neera and you're totally right about Neeshka lol I forgot all about her from NWN2.
