If you are buying this game for Steam achievements, you are doing it wrong. BG is a very deep (and perhaps the deepest) experience in AD&D or even any RPG ever made by a western company. The world and the adventure pays for itself. HOWEVER, I agree that it's better wait for a sale day and see at least 50% off, at least for those like myself, who already played the game...

I know that bg is a very deep game I already finished 1 and 2 with expansion but this is the enchanced edition right , and steam cloud save and steam achievments is the enchance for me . Without this steam release is pointless .

I'm disappointed that there are no acheivements too, but that's not exactly the selling point of the EE. there are new items, characters, classes, locations, etc... THAT is the selling point.

£15... really?
I have my original disks still, I bought it again for a couple of £ on GOG... Could someone explain what has been added to justify £15?
Honest question.

Can you spell Planescape?
In my (very) humble opinion, BG is fairly overrated, made worse by the constant recycling of plot mechanisms in following games. I much prefered Fallout for its adult grit (despite a fair share of slapstick), BG is just too cute.

I also won't buy this without Achivements, as I already own the boxed games, regular steam versions and collector disc of some kind.

I don't care about Steam Achievements... I can't even get this version of the game to run properly (white screen instead of world so I can't navigate anywhere, though sound works (kind of) and I do see buttons and animated icons).

Are there really people that just buy games for Steam achievments, regardless of whether or not the game is quality/works?

I don't want to live on this planet anymore.

I would totally buy both 1 and 2 if they had steam achievements.

Why?

I already finished both games back in the original days; the enhanced editions don't add enough to make me want to play 'em. You can get hi-res mods for the originals for free everywhere on the net. Achievements? I'd probably enjoy playing through it again if they had implemented them.

There's people who are enjoying them, some people completely hate them. There's gotta be room for both types on this planet. We'll never understand each other but hey, it's okay.

Not buying a good game just because it does NOT have achievements, though? Meh, BS.

How pathetic must a person's life be to have their video game "achievements" actually mean something to them? It's hilarous too as almost all achievments in games are things that players will naturally get overtime through the game's progression. If you want a sense of achievement and if you really want it to involve video games than enter tournaments, enhance your skills at games, and make a name for yourself. If you are unwilling or incapable of doing such than you will never truly achieve anything on the topic of video games.

If for one second I was as pathetic as this I would really radically change my life to make it mean and be worth something.

The devs don't get a cut of steam sales, therefore there's zero point spending time on adding steam specific enhancements. It was some weird deal with Atari.

To be honest, if you buy ANY game for the Steam achievements, you're doing it wrong to begin with. They're fairly useless gimmicks. But each to their own. I just wish they wouldn't bother the rest of us about it.

If they were really serious about getting their achievements in though, they should probably mail Atari (the publishers and the ones who are responsible for the Steam release) directly. It is unlikely that they'll ever check the Steam forums. Though I doubt they'll care even if you mail them directly, and in this case, I'd say they have a good reason not to. :P

Coding in achievements is more hassle than it's worth, really. Though maybe they should put in 2 achievements. "Bought the game" and "started the game." That should be fairly easy to handle with minimal effort, and would appease those who desperately need their achievements. ;)

Pretty sure they said they do get a cut, a small one only though. They also have access to the build on steam too apparently. Interestingly enough, Atari has been completely removed as a publisher for the game on steam, at least in Europe. Did Atari die? Sadly not.
