Want to buy this game but wondering about the improvements

I've been doing some mods for BG for awhile but got fed up with installing the community mods.

Has the game really been improved? Does it have a little more pick up and play quality now? (As in, not a 3 hour preparation of getting all the appropriate modes together etc). Most importantly, is the game buggier than the version on GoG?

I just bought it, thanks for the advice. The game runs just like I expect it to, without any hassle.

I do think though that the original asking price of 20 is just too much. Should be around 10 as it is right now.
