HD vs. Original
I have the normal version on GOG and some old discs laying around... somwhere. My question is to anyone who has played both. Are there any real significant enhancements in this version or is it a waste of 10$ if I already have it? Opinions are welcome and I appreciate the help!

I'll probably wait until next time it's $10 or less, since I have way too many games on my list right now to play.
I'm mostly just writing this for my own benefit, since I was getting frustrated that I was about to buy yet another game, but now I can feel fine in waiting. :)

It is a great game though, hoping the HD update is solid, which I assume it is. But probably not worth the immediate purchase if the old discs still work fine.

Not really worth it if you already own the old version, it's mostly just mods.

Don't waste your money at all. Its the same as the original just added fans bug fixes and high resolution support and charging what modders made for free.
I figured as much. Thank you for the assistance.
This is not HD. If it was I could actually see this game being worth it, but when asked why they didn't do it they gave some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ response about the original artwork being "lost". What the probably translates to is they didn't get the rights to it from the current owner so they had to stick with what they actually could enhance which is not much. Only a couple of new characters(which any novice modder could have cooked up in 20 minutes) and a new game mode that doesn't add anything to the story and is only accessible through the main menu. You are better off getting the GOG versions when they go on sale. I was able to pick up the entire D&D anthology for $20 over the holidays and I'm betting they will do that again sometime during the summer since they seem to be following suite with Steam's seasonal sales model.
I bought it because they still release updates with lots of fixes so i want to support them to continue the work - and they hired new people for bugfixing:

here is a update list:

BTW: the steam version is 1.0.2014 too
no problem with starting the game on windows 8 pro 64-bit.

Whats wrong with supporting the makers of a game you loved?

I plan on picking it up once it hits android myself. Just seemed redundant to purchase it for PC a third time if there were no significant updates.

1196 games (which means 600+ with add-ons & dlcs), and I thought I had a sick backlog with 697...
If this version is supported then it is worth getting.

Sorry but this is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, this game is definitely HD. I did not notice any resolution switch that goes to a non-HD resolution.

This game is running at 1920x1080 on my computer.

Please don't spread any false information.

A game runing in a Higher resolution does NOT make it HD.
There was no graphical overhaul to make it HD, nor were any graphics realy changed in the slightest.
So he is indeed correct in calling it "Not HD" because its not. Nothing about it is HD.

I think the fact it scales on a 21:9 screen 2560x1080 correctly means it upscales to HD res correctly. The fact textures and UI etc also scale correctly helps. Hardware mouse cursor to cope with mice of 2013 not pre 2000 also helps! Being able to zoom in and out (even beyond 16:9) is quite impressive.

The fact that a game this old is now getting people work! When it's also 50% off is worth supporting. And being on steam, auto patching updates and redownloads vs messing with a disc for some gamers thats going to be worth the price.

And some of the ingame art and movies, sound FX are higher res than from the original.

So it's HD and widescreen ready if people want to argue over terms...

Yes it is, that's the very definition of "High Definition". The HD resolution is 1920x1080 and 2560x1080. Any game that supports these resolutions is HD. Even the original Unreal Tournament released in 1999 is HD.
