Quicksaves don't... well, actually save.
After having trouble to even get the game to run lately (had to resort to the whole "Data Execution Prevention" fix that got posted here on the forums) the last few days I finally got to play today... and immediately encountered another, rather glaring problem.
Quicksaves disappear, as do autosaves. Pressing 'Q' does indeed give me a little, green "Quicksave successful" notification, but the game seems to be rather picky about the actual saving part of the whole thing.
For example, I started a new playthrough and went from Candlekeep up to the friendly arm in, all while relying just on the quick and autosave function (which probably isn't the smartest thing to do). Played the original back then, so I didn't really encounter any glaring problems. No deaths, no need to reload. So I just saved the game, again with quicksave, and quit for a while.
When I came back there were no saves to be found, neither autosaves nor quicksaves. Nothing, no way for me to reload, about two hours of gameplay gone.
Googling this issue produced curiously little results. Am I the only one with that problem? If not - is there a way around it, aside from just saving normally?

Curiously now quicksaves seem to work. I started another playthrough and just left candlekeep, with a quicksave right before leaving the keep (and an actual save directly after that). So far the quicksave seems to have stayed, even after quitting and reloading the game a few times. I guess I'll just keep an eye on it, to see if it happens again.

It happened again. Quicksaves work just fine inside candlekeep, but as soon as I leave the keep the quicksave deletes itself right after it saves, same with autosaves. Inside candlekeep I could quicksave without problems, after the ambush every quicksave results in an empty save spot, despite a message that the save was successful.

This is really, really weird.

Right. I googled a bit more excessively and found a thread that seems to have fixed my problem - I was still running the game in compatibility mode, which I enabled when I tried to find a fix for my problems with actually starting it. Now that I disabled that Quicksaves seem to work. Or so I hope.

Oh dear, that is unfortunate. I suppose I'll have to remember to keep saving on a regular basis, without trusting quick and autosaves. Boo.
