Achievement Bug: Friend of Volo
the storymode achieveo didnt trigger for me. I completed the game solo on story mode, with an imported character from my first playthru in normal mode. the solo achievement triggered while the story mode one did not, and no, I did not change the difficulty at any time. just saying...

edit: I finally got it. i went back to pick up a companion so i'm no longer solo, went back to sarevok to kill him with my companion alive, achievement triggered.

Again, as some players have pointed out, various achievements don't trigger reliably. Reloading and retrying several times may be needed while other players are not affected.

For BG1 SOD, there is one achievement that is known to be broken completely for a long time (Grim Deeds to Come). All 128 other achievements work, but may be affected by side-effects such as cutscenes, area transition or NPC interaction somehow disturbing the scripts that process the achievements. There are various topics about the achievements somewhere in this forum.

I had both Sacrifices Must Be Made and Leave No Friend Behind before Hero of Baldur's Gate. I think I did the final battle at least six times before it triggered. some of the Chapter related and sidequest achievements popped up, others didn't.

Same with part 2. With quest related ones, if I loaded a save in the middle of the quest, it often wouldnt trigger when completing the quest, I had to reload an older save and redo the entire quest. Hero and Villain were also unresponsive for a while. Donate, donate, donate, quest. Toss a Cloudkill in the Copper Coronet.

You just may need to reload the save and try a few times.
