1.3 patch
Stardock announced the 1.3 patch for this game a few days ago - yet my client is not updating even though I play with steam in online mode. What's the story on this, I wonder?

Need to start a new game if you have it.

On start up it should say what version.
All game saves contain the "current code" for the game, this way your game does not "break" with updates and you can finish it.

Well, according to this thread FE:LH 1.3 is still unreleased
http://forums.elementalgame.com/446175
therefore it is no surprise, that the Steam client didn´t download any updates yet ;)

That is correct, it is unreleased. They announce patches as they are being worked on, gives the opportunity for more feedback.

"Fixed an issue in tactical that could cause 2 units to end up in the same tile"

dammit... that was a sweet exploit at ties

It is not the only exploit. Attack a city first with a disposable scout, then again on that same turn with your regular army and only stationed troops and not the city defenses will be present.
It was a shocking find for me when I was defending a city from multiple computer attacks in the same turn.

This bug still exist?
I know of this bug from Fallen Enchantress (before Legendary Heroes) ...
but I haven' t encounteres it in FE:LH.
To the contrary ...
in my last game I as planning my storm on Imperium, which was (aside from being capital) a fortress with a stone wall where Magnar had fortified a really huge number of units (I think around 20 ... lots of them casters with fire staves).
Due to the fact that I had enough reinforcements and my garrisons were churning out new types of units (with better armor [unusable by the last generation troops my main armies currently fielded]) and the knowledge that Magnar would be crippled by the loss of its xcapital I decided to use the russian strategy (so dubbed by me because it resembles the strategy the USSR had for its conquest of western europe) to take Imperium at all costs ... my 3 main armies would attack the city, one after the other, during the same turn, trying to either conquer the city or, at least, to inflict as much damage as possible before being wiped due to the resistance.
3 times my armies stormed and 2 times the enemy was able to withstand the onslaught until finally, the 3rd army was able to defeat all defenders and conquer Imperium.
One thing I recognized out was, that in each of the 3 attacks the cities militia forces would be present at full strength ... despite the fact that in each attack around > 80% of the militia would get killed (which was a surprise for me as well, as I assumed that the militia would only be present in full strength during the first attack and then the amount of militia units would fall to 0 [or at least decrease] either due to the bug you mentioned, or due to the losses sustained during the attack before)

What? No Meteor Strike to thin'em a little..

Did you note the population before, during or after? He can draw on them and may have.

I usualy catch Magnar "on the move" rather than forified.

Another one of my "carrot tricks";
Bring a few "disposible units" (3 man unit, scout, spiders..)
Place -One- on the inside edge of enemy city property. <-- the carrot
Place yer Army exactly opposite on the outside edge of thier property.
Some will come out to attack your "disposible unit" ..and you get them with your army.
Rinse and repeat.
You could use better "disposible units" this will cause them to use better attackers ..up to a point. Weight it against city defence.
("disposible unit" could be sacking resource)

So in the example presented by proteus, the computer players gets his city defenders back during multiple attacks on that same city in the same turn, but when a player gets multiple attacks from a computer, the city defenders are only present for the first battle. Now this flaw seems a little bigger.

trueman56;
He didn't mention "in the same turn".

I would like to help you guys sort this.. but nobody comes even close to sackin my cities, and when I sack one just the right army is used.

Proteus;
Sounds like you needed a Dragon, or two, for that attack. They are always hungry and enjoy fresh slves.
Proteus Jul 14, 2013 @ 1:40am
In my example all 3 attacks were "in the same turn" (which was also mentioned in my posting ;) )
And yep, a dragon would have been handy ...
unfortunately it was only a long time after I reduced Magnar to 2-3 cities, when I finally got a dragons lair (thanks to a global event that spawns loads of new mighty monsters in all players territories ... one of them was a dragon, spawning near one oof my cities :D)
Also didn´t have Meteor strike available (the battle took place in a time where myself and Magnar had the ingredients for the spell of making, but had far from fully researched the magic tree aside from this ... that was the reason for my need to take action fast ... Magnar was rather busy to build the 3 towers, with one of them being in place in Imperium)

oops.. Should have re-read it.

and.. DOH! I have yet to encounter one of the Major Events. Yikes! Sounds like fun. :/

I am still baffled by this city defender thing. Will keep an eye out and see if I can set something up.

(on side note; I like to park armies next to each city and raiders near each outpost. Then take the whole faction down as soon as I spot the Sov' is out of a city ..in one turn.)

Well, now we know BatCat isn't perfect! (just really good).

My question was not one of game strategy but rather to make the community aware that we may have a game programming problem here.
