Tech Level
I`m still really confused with this game. I`m at normal level and 55 minutes into game, I have 5 cities, 2 conclaves, 2 barracks and 1 town. I`m trying to specialize. My powe rating is 56 and Pariden`s power rating is 55. However my tech knowledge is 56 and Pariden`s tech knowledge is 395.

Does the AI start with more tech or what is the problem

do you have research enchantments for your settlements?

are you playing a faction that specializes in research?

does your soveriegn have a research bonus?

are you trading research credits with other factions to speed up your own research?

are you constructing research bonus buildings in your conclaves?

have you found any Ancient Library locations and constructed them in your territory?

Pariden is THE research and magic oriented faction. So I'm not surprised.
Get knowledge and similar techs early. Make sure you build the right improvements into your cities. Make sure your cities zones of control are connected, and keep unrest low ... this is a HUGE factor in Legendary Heroes. Unrest can totally nerf your output.

Ok, looks like I might have to reroll my faction to emphasis more research. I've done pretty much everything else. I've worked on the unrest so its pretty good. Bit of new info would be the zone of control are connected. My cities have the roads connected but my zones may not always touch. I was only building cities where I could and outposts where it mattered, maybe I need outposts in between cities just to connect them.

Yuppers..

Pay attention to most of the details; Like Unrest.. details panel, hover yer pointer over unrest and see a break down. Like "15% unconnected".

My game start has Town for Capital then 2 or 3 Conclaves.
At the very start, don't settle immediatly, spit up and look for 3 good spots with lots of "E". Run! Settle the least with town/capital first, and the other 2or 3 for conclves. Then get yer crew back together.

Keep in mind there is a minimum distance between cities and tiles within are wiped. Usualy 5 or 6 tiles around get wiped. So plan yer settles, and watch/count the tiles that get wiped on the first settle.

Conclaves realy want max "E" as all the mana and research is based on the number of E slots.
Like; Research +1 and +1 per E. There is also 2 building lines that add to research.

The main Conclave buildings mirror the best spells So you put both.
