is this game worth it's full price?
title says enough. i'd like to hear some opinions. at the moment a lot of games are sitting in my 'must-buy' list but unfortunately i can only buy one at the moment.

My top 10 at the moment is:
1 The Age Of Decadence
2 Dark Souls: Prepare to die edition
3 Anno 1404 (can't be bought at the moment though)
4 Starpoint Gemini 2
5 Overgrowth
6 Fallen Enchantress: Legendary Heroes
7 Age of Wonders 2
8 Kerbal Space Program
9 Blackguards
10 Deus Ex: Human Revolution

FE is pretty low at the list right now, but it looks really awesome. i'm just not sure for the pretty high price compared to the other games of my list.

Personally I would wait for a sale, then pick it up for $10 or less. Same with AoW2. In many ways they are very similar games (IgoUgo turnbased, fantasy 4x). FE:LH has better graphics and customizable factions/heros/units, AoW2 has multiplayer and (maybe) a slightly better AI or game balance for SP. IgoUgo somehow really feels dated as a game mechanic to me now I have tried other games using real-time or simultaneous movement.

Haven't played any of the other games, so can't comment. I'm currently really enjoying Europa Universalis 3 In Nomine, which I picked up for $7.50 on sale. In that game, there are no turns, rather you accelerate or slow down a time slider, and the scope of the game is epic (the entire historical world simulated from 1399 AD to 1820).

At those prices, even if you don't like the game, it is shruggable. I've payed for too many lemons to be willing to pay much more, unless I have seen awesome Youtube let's-play video and it looks like something I really want. For example, I personally would probably consider picking up X-Com: Enemy Unknown for $20-30 without hesitation (coincidentally also IgoUgo) for very high quality remake of an old favorite, and I really like the Total War and Sword of the Stars series (both IgoUgo/realtime hybrids) for the 3D cinemagraphic battles or Dominions series (simultaneous turn-based) for shear depth of gameplay.

No.

Get it on sale.

However, it is a heck of a good game. Worth getting, and I enjoy it quite a bit. However you might want to wait for a sale, so that if you complain, I can respond by telling you that you only lost a bag of potato chips.
thanks for the reactions! i will wait for a sale then.
currently enjoying Civ V a lot so that will keep me busy for a while :)
Its quite easy to get all those for significantly cheaper than full price (including this one)

I would say it's absolutely worth full price. OTOH, so are some of the others on your list, like Dark Souls and Deus Ex (personally I'd wait with Age of Decadence since it's early access).

It is perhaps worth noting that the game is also available on the Humble Store, where you will get a Steam key. Don't know if that changes anything for you (for me it makes it cheaper due to having to pay in euro on Steam).
Its worth full price when its on sale for $9.99....

Absolutely woth it full price. When it's at sale, even better.

It's worth the full price, yes.

It's a really fun game. It'll last longer than a ton of gmes you've probably paid $60 for. I'd put it above Civ 5 vanilla and below Civ 5 with Brave New World.
Honestly remove dark souls from the list, it is an awesome game but it absolutely sucks on PC..... it is one of the few games I can think of that actually plays better on console, on PC it is like woeful, GOD AWFUL.

Just a heads up but yes dark souls awesome game just not on PC..... it was a very lazy port.

As for this game, I got it during the christmas sale and its fun, in hindsight I would have definetly paid full price for it, what I like about it is compared to my other strat game type things I can pick up and play a game in one session rather then over a few weeks or months.
"AoW2 has multiplayer and (maybe) a slightly better AI or game balance for SP"

It really does not. AoW2 is broken for single player. This is not hyperbole.

It's completely pointless to attempt a sandbox aow2 game. The ai cannot play the game, it doesn't even found cities let alone attempt strategy.

AoW2 is only worth playing for multiplayer or for the campaign which compensates for the lack of ai by making it more of a puzzle game.

Whatever your criticism of FE it does have the best (or least bad) ai of fantasy tbs. Which it has to since it's single player only.

@OP I would drop aow2 from your list and then decide what type of game you really feel like as all the games you list are different genres.

And you should know the negative of FE:LH. I found the game quite offputting at first as the settings is brad wardells (stardock ceo) own fantasy world creation and he is not a good writer.
I've got a coupon for 66% off and will happily trade it for $10 in creds... we can discuss.
@OP if you can wait AoW3 is out this year which should be a whole different story.
one of the best games I played....has no MP, BUT....the depth and diversity of every game played is....superb.
graphics, although a specific style, are beautiful once you get used to them and start observing small details.

Starpoint Gemini will be awsome, I have a feeling....too...

that one is on the top of my priority list actually ;)
but will have to wait for quite some time i guess.
i hope they make a proper AI for it too this time :P
Knowing Stardock, this game made it to the top my wishlist even though I have absolutely no knowledge of the game. Purchasing this was one of the best decisions I have ever made on Steam. Like drazenjezidzic has stated, the developers have put so much effort in the depth and diversity of the game. The game is half turn-based strategy and half RPG.
