Haven't played any of the other games, so can't comment. I'm currently really enjoying Europa Universalis 3 In Nomine, which I picked up for $7.50 on sale. In that game, there are no turns, rather you accelerate or slow down a time slider, and the scope of the game is epic (the entire historical world simulated from 1399 AD to 1820).
At those prices, even if you don't like the game, it is shruggable. I've payed for too many lemons to be willing to pay much more, unless I have seen awesome Youtube let's-play video and it looks like something I really want. For example, I personally would probably consider picking up X-Com: Enemy Unknown for $20-30 without hesitation (coincidentally also IgoUgo) for very high quality remake of an old favorite, and I really like the Total War and Sword of the Stars series (both IgoUgo/realtime hybrids) for the 3D cinemagraphic battles or Dominions series (simultaneous turn-based) for shear depth of gameplay.
Get it on sale.
However, it is a heck of a good game. Worth getting, and I enjoy it quite a bit. However you might want to wait for a sale, so that if you complain, I can respond by telling you that you only lost a bag of potato chips.
currently enjoying Civ V a lot so that will keep me busy for a while :)
It is perhaps worth noting that the game is also available on the Humble Store, where you will get a Steam key. Don't know if that changes anything for you (for me it makes it cheaper due to having to pay in euro on Steam).
It's a really fun game. It'll last longer than a ton of gmes you've probably paid $60 for. I'd put it above Civ 5 vanilla and below Civ 5 with Brave New World.
Just a heads up but yes dark souls awesome game just not on PC..... it was a very lazy port.
As for this game, I got it during the christmas sale and its fun, in hindsight I would have definetly paid full price for it, what I like about it is compared to my other strat game type things I can pick up and play a game in one session rather then over a few weeks or months.
It really does not. AoW2 is broken for single player. This is not hyperbole.
It's completely pointless to attempt a sandbox aow2 game. The ai cannot play the game, it doesn't even found cities let alone attempt strategy.
AoW2 is only worth playing for multiplayer or for the campaign which compensates for the lack of ai by making it more of a puzzle game.
Whatever your criticism of FE it does have the best (or least bad) ai of fantasy tbs. Which it has to since it's single player only.
@OP I would drop aow2 from your list and then decide what type of game you really feel like as all the games you list are different genres.
And you should know the negative of FE:LH. I found the game quite offputting at first as the settings is brad wardells (stardock ceo) own fantasy world creation and he is not a good writer.
graphics, although a specific style, are beautiful once you get used to them and start observing small details.
Starpoint Gemini will be awsome, I have a feeling....too...
that one is on the top of my priority list actually ;)
but will have to wait for quite some time i guess.
i hope they make a proper AI for it too this time :P
