Why are USA tanks so bad?
That first tank that says 'good against tanks' is ♥♥♥♥♥♥!t, it gets destroyed before you even manage to shoot an enemy tank, then that 2nd flamethrower tank is useless (yes that is for infantry and it sucks against infantry more than the first one against tanks), i was flaming the enemy squad for over 15 seconds and it didn't even take down half of their health, i don't know much about the 3rd one but i do know that they get destroyed fast, the worst thing is that germans can get anti tank infantry just by upgrading units they have while americans need expensive rangers that needs infantry doctrine.

M10/M18 are pretty good tanks in general they are pretty amazing at killing infr, sure they lose to stug but their cheaper than them and are easily spammable, two M10/M18 can beat a panther. The Croc Sherman is bad, because Flame crits in this game is done by health, and if your infr have fuel health.. wtf??? So don't ever use them to expensive. Sherman is a pretty good tank vs infr, like really good, like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ most time on sturzdorf I'll see my oppenant have a sherman before pak and just watch him rake in to vet 3. ( Terminator at that point). Going big ♥♥♥♥ upgrade for the sherman; I don't recommend becuase M10/M18 are so much better at anti tank + squuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuish. Only get th big ♥♥♥♥ upgrade if your going for pershing since it benefits from it. Oh yeah, and the myth about the reduced scatter with the big ♥♥♥♥ sherman is true.
because they were bad in real life...they used gasoline not diesel which burns easier....they had small guns and thin armour...but they were easy to make and when you have 10 shermans and 1 tiger....the shermans will win jusy on # of shells fired and being able to get behind the tiger

There was a reason why the Germans called the Sherman "Tommy Cooker".

And for the Tank destoryer. US tank destoryers were made to be fast and hit the side of the german tanks. The M10 "TD" (only the Brits called it the Wolverine) was made to counter Blitzkreig tactics and be able to respond to enemy attacks and breakthroughs quickly. The only Tank Destoyer used by the US that was effective against the frontal armor of the german heavy tanks (at long range) was the M36 tank destroyer with the 90mm gun.

I use the M18 Hellcat with no fear. Sure its gonna get killed. What tank does suvive. It all is in how you deploy tactic used. Speed is the M18 advantage. I run them in platoon size element of 4 and the speed and fire power of a platoon is killer. Can take on a Panther and out flank it to the rear and manuver them to stay towars the rear and out run the traversing Panther gun. Therefore the Panther is out gunned with a higher rate of fire of 4 rounds out to 1 of the Panther. Same can be done to take on the Tiger and King Tiger. They are slow. So speed and mauvering is the key to survival of the M18. I find it far better than the Sherman. Although the Sherman can get through obsticals that stop the Hellcat. But that the trade off. Its a nightmare to watch some one try to go toe to toe with the German Armor and park in front of them. Tanks are made to be manuvered and to get in the enemy rear areas and raise hell with the following forces. It causes the forward enemy units to redirect their fire to their rear because tanks are behind them. That reduces their forward fire as it is turned to engage whats behind them. Thus they are then in a cross fire from the front and rear and easier to kill or forced to retreat. Try using tanks in a tactical manuvering fashion and you will see it yourself. But expect to loose a tank. Thats war.

Shermans are for support, and M10's and hellcats are for hit and run or ambush tactics.
For a rule of thumb, never use shermans on 1v1, and never use m10's alone, always spam 3 or more for the hit and run, if you coordinate well you can easily kill a king tiger with 2 m10's and 2 rifleman with stickies

Guessing you dont play Sturzdorf becuase you can have a sherman out before a pak... the only time you dont go sherman first is against PE becuase m10/m18 scatter is so retarded and since PGs have 3 men you can derp pgs off the field while killing PE armor.

Never go 1vs1?But what am I supposed to do when enemy has tanks and I can't afford more than 1 tank?Sometimes there are situations where enemies have tanks when I still don't even have tank depot.

m10 Wolverine is a very fast tank. It has a turret as well which makes it significantly better than a German Stug for instance.

Usually they can travel faster than a Panther, or Panzer IV's turret can move. You need to use the tanks in numbers as well.

Also, the Americans have Riflemen which can be upgraded with sticky bombs. Not only does the sticky bomb upgrade increase the rate of veterancy upgrading for riflemen but it also gives this pretty potent anti-tank weapons. Sticky bombs are almost guranteed to disable a tank/ vehicle in some way. Either through a damaged/destroyed engine, or a destroyed gun.

Also riflemen have large squads, and can come from the casualty clearing station as well. The BAR upgrade is a world upgrade that benefits all present and future squads. As they have large squads they can pick up more dropped heavy weapons such as bazookas, piats, panzerschreks.

Either your opponent is just a better player than you, or chances are your opponent has a STug out, which is hardly that threatning. If they have a tank out that early, surely you have got something to show for it. Either more infantry, tech, etc etc.

are M10s better than M18s? just seemed like a fitting place for the question
aflashman Jul 29, 2014 @ 9:39pm
Americans are stronger than the Wehrmacht in the early game, but late game the advantage switches to the Wehrmacht. When you play the American's you need to push for an early advantage. The extra resources will even up the odds somewhat.

Apparently the m10 has a better gun, but moves slower and has poorer armour. I don't raelly undertsnad this, as the Hellcat (m18) was made with a bigger gun in real life, and had great speed but poorer armour over the m10.

So M10 = better gun, worse armour, slower speed, no anti-infantry capabilities, can't use ambush lockdown.

Overall, they are about the same.

If the enemy does just have a stug then I would say go 1v1 with it just because its case-mate weapon means a flanking manouver is all it takes to destroy it and a sherman/m10 are more than capable. Another suggestion is to have more m10s than shermans. Spamming Shermans alone is never a good idea and will only be a waste of fuel, make sure to have your m10s and Shermans work together. If your enemy does have tanks out faster than you do then their is a problem with your early game strategy. Are you pushing the enemy? Do you own at least 50% of the map as a minimum? Are you strategiclly targeting fuel points to fast-tech past your enemy? Remember to spam those riflemen, support them with weapon teams, more into CQC unless the enemy has SMGs and work to not only cap points but to move up and prevent the enemy from capping points. If your early game bodes well you should be the first with tanks so as long as you micro them properly the battle should be yours.
