Praying 4 a better sourceport
I pray for the day that a sourceport comes out with Real-Time Lighting and Shadows and Parallax Bumpmapping in Direct 3D NOT OpenGL (for 3D Vision) *hint to any devs out there*

Why would you need all that crap?
Plus, I think many of these things (real time lighting and shadows) simply aren't possible, or rather, aren't worth the effort to put in. So much goes on ingame that including lighting / shadows for everything would be a hassle at best.

DoomsDay Engine comes 'closer' to this, in that they've retrospectively updated all the items in DOOM that would emit light around a certain radius.

I haven't checked the Rockets, but there would be Source Ports that are more Quake leaning (that open DOOM IWAD and PWAD files) into a more modern engine that can run all the DOOM maps with the intermissions, etc. in the right place.

You'd never need to know it wasn't a DOOM Source Port, but rather a mash-up DOOM + Quake++ Source Port.

It's possible, I'll say that much... so much so that I suspect Real-Time Lighting may have already happened (to some degree anyway).

There is also a team porting DOOM to the Half-Life engine.

Let's also have a source port that combines all the Id engines over the years. Everything from Hovertank 3D to Id Tech 4, and throw in Build engine support as well. Then you can have anything and everything in any game that uses such engines that you want.

Good luck for the person doing this, lol.
