Gettings ALIENS TC to run with STEAM and ZDL - HELP!!
Hello all,

I've been trying to run ALIENS TC with ZDL here on steam. I need a slight nudge in the proper direction...Everything has been set up correctly in order to get DOOM to launch properly through ZDL (it works no prob) - the issue I am having: When I choose to add EXTERNAL FILES, ZDL seems to only recognize WAD files (they are the only ones that appear as options when I "add and then browse".
How do I get ZDL to recognize .DEH and .BEX files... it seems ALIENS TC will only run if these are included.
Any help on this will be totally appreciated. I'm a bit new to this kind of thing, so please forgive my ignorance!

Not familiar with aliens TC, but generally you can drag the file (in your case pk3) Onto the excecutable (ZDL) and it SHOULD run. If not, try zandronum, I use it and I've had literally no problems.

Hey, I'm not sure if you're still trying to work this out, but I had the same issue with Alien Vendetta for Doom II. For Alien Vendetta, I had two WAD files and a DEH file. The DEH file didn't appear initially because by default, ZDL only searches for WADS. I fixed it by doing the following:

When adding external files, change the file type selection
from: "WAD/PK3/ZIP/PK7/PKZ/P7Z (*.wad, *.pk3, *.zip, *.pk7, *.pkz, *.p7z)"
to: "Any files (*) (*.*)". Simply add the .DEH and any other files required.

Specifically, you can change it to just "Patch Files (*.bex, *.deh)" but I just change it to "Any files (*) (*.*)" so I can add everything at once.

I have all of my PWADs in separate folders, and the folder name contains which source port and IWAD it requires to run. This saves time and you don't have to remember which source port or IWAD for each different PWAD you have.

For example, my file structure is:
"C:\Users\(my username)\My Games\Doom\PWADs\Alien Vendetta (Doom II, Any)".
Doom II is the IWAD required (doom2.wad) and "any" refers to "any" source port. It works with Chocolate Doom, ZDoom, and GZDoom, which are the 3 main ones I use. Inside Alien Vendetta (Doom II, Any) is the three files I needed (the two PWADs and the DEH file).

If you need anymore help, just ask! I'm newish to this stuff too but I'm picking it up as I go along. I understand how you're confused!
