DOOM (1993)

DOOM (1993)

Any way to make the graphics look better?
Ive been messing with Dosbox settings now for over an hour, the graphics on the dosbox look like ♥♥♥♥!, I dunno whats up with them but they look really blury and kinda pastel looking, I feel like the graphics detail is set on Low even though its on high, I know the game is old but i am almost certian if i fire up my dos computer it would look better there.

You could try editing

fullresolution=desktop
output=ddraw

But really you would be better off installing zandronum and brutal doom.:KSmiley:

Yeah ive tried that still looks like crap, I am not implying that it needs better graphics i am implying that the emulation seems very inacurate.

I appriciate the links guys, but id like to play this on the original engine. any othere .conf suggestions?

The versions included with the DOOM 3 BFG Edition are much easier to play for w/ever reason and the sound isn't as buggy either. I don't have a problem with companies releases stuff under DosBOX, but they could at least tweak it a little before just slapping ♥♥♥♥ together to make a cheap buck.

The biggest problems I have with this version (and the BFG Editions) is that the gamma /brightness is jacked up way too high. Like in the screenshot above.

Im my travels searching for mods I found some info that said Dos Doom only had one resolution, 320x200. Doom95 had higher resolutions.

The lowest resolution my 4:3 LCD monitor can do is 640x480. So there is a lot of stretching of pixels going on there. If you really must play through DosBox your best bet would be to get an old CRT monitor so you can play in the rative resolution.

I think Doom 95 is ultimate doom am I right?
I just got the entire Doom classic pack heh.

So I downloaded Brutal doom how does one install it to steam?
I think Steam needs an easy addon section much like Skyrim but for Doom

You need to download a source port first, there are many. I use zandronum.
Here is a guide.

Got a link that does not lead to a virus?
The download option for that mod is a virus.
