That's terrible
Much time ago I tried to play Doom on Xbox 360. It had awesome graphics and really speed gameplay. So, I bought Steam version. It's just unplayable because of graphics and sound/game lags. What to do? I can't enjoy Doom :\

Get a source port that enhances the resolution.

Get Zdoom/GZdoom, Zandronum for multiplayer. Far better than the 360 doom.

I use GZDoom when I play.

Doom became open-source after it's release, so the fans have made source ports that add modern features (Like mouse look) and higher resouloutions.

Good to known !

Just use a source port, such as Zandronum. Most source ports also allow for the use of mouse look and other modern features too.

GZDoom is better in virtually every way. Use it instead, as it runs via OpenGL and is therefore smoother than ZDoom which runs via software.

Except for some people who don't have high-end PCs (like me), so for me, Software is a better choice (and looks better in my opinion).

You don't need a high-end PC for GZDoom, I have a $300 computer, and run it very well. How old is your computer, have you tried running GZDoom?
STSouthpark2010 7 de Ago, 2013 a las 6:56
Maybe I was exaggerating a bit when I said 'high-end', but I have (had) a laptop which can run OpenGL (on GZDoom and Zandronum) at 20 (maybe 30) frames.
I actually kept GL on for a long while untilI switched back to Software which I then noticed the FPS improvement.

Dynamic Lights / Hi-res textures / Texture-scaling refuses to run. I plan to get a better computer soon though. Do you know what specs are recommended to run GZDoom at 60 frames?

Can I run it well? I have Core 2 Quad Q6700 with 4GB DDR2 and overclocked GTX 260

Oh, I wouldn't know specifically... But, trust me, I don't have the best PC. GZDoom runs at 60 FPS.

Pretty sure I've got a 486 that will run Doom...

Hello. If you want to download a source port, just look up zdoom or gzdoom. However, I don't like these because it has no Steam Overlay and when you play it, it isn't connected to steam in any way. Read this guide. It really helps if you want the original game but with better graphics and MIDI music, which is what the XBOX version has. Just go into the files it says with notepad and you are good to go.
