Screen Resolution

So, I've purchased the Doom Classic Complete bundle and I've been playing just like old times and loving it. I just wonder, how can I make fullscreen look as sharp as the game does when it's in the smaller windowed mode?

I'm running on Windows 8. I had to change the output from output=surface to output=ddraw on the dosbox, ultimate and ultimatem files. I also had to change aspect from aspect=false to aspect=true before the game would even run. All thanks to another great and very helpful post in the Ultimate Doom hub.

Any advice on how to increase resolution? Maybe it has something to do with the scalar in the program files? Any help would be great.

I too wonder about the resolution. Back in the day I used to have a version of Doom called Doom 95, or maybe 98, and it had some really nice built in res options amongst other things. I wish they would put that out again.

Doom95 no longer works on modern computers. What you want is a Doom source port that raises the resolution. You could give Odamex a try, it supports HD resolutions. http://steamcommunity.com/groups/odamex

I changed the scaler from "normal12x" to "hd3x" and it increased resolution to the highest supported by the program. It'll work. :)

As Source Ports I prefer "Skulltag" or "GZDoom".
Skulltag is the best for playing Multiplayer (also with good bots!)

You can actually play the DOOM95 version by downloading it at doomworld.com, once you download it, extract it then go in to the DOOM95 folder and then go into the DIRECTX folder and find DPLAY.DLL then put it in the DOOM95 folder. I know it works on Windows Vista and it might work for windows 7( I don't have Windows 7). If you have bugs look at the DOOM wiki for more information. Note: some resolutions are not supported for Windows 7
