No longer working. :'(
Doom as well as ALL other Steam DOS games won't run on my rig anymore. I just get the dreaded "DOSbox Emulator has Stopped Working" I have tried to modify dosbox config with a variety of different settings with NO LUCK. Anyone else getting this problem?. last time I played these games I ran them without ANY problems!

1) Right click on The Ultimate Doom in Steam.
2) Select Properties
3) Local Files (tab)
4) Click Verify Integrity of Game Cache

Wait for it to re-download the missing, corrupt or incomplete files...

I redownloaded them from scratch. no fix.
But I found a windows 7 zdoom port that look's just like the original. but has mouse support. so If I feel like a retro moment comes over me I play that. Otherwise I play my Pimped out Risen3D port with a more comrehensive set of textures than can be found in one place (used best textures from several texture mods and put them together in one mod). :3

I haven't played Risen3D in ages, does it have multiplayer now?

No. and at this stage they still have no plans for multi-player :'( I love Risen3D I use all their addons plus a HD txture pack I have been compiling together since 2005 and I find more comprehensive than any texture pack I have seen so far. I emailed the Risen3D dev team to ask for an extreme gore mod with FULL gibbing, spraying blood that stays on walls and for body's and bits of bodies to not fade out. I hope the reply will be positive.

Extreme gore isn't always something developer minded people want, and it's quite hard to code as an after thought to a given engine.
