Requesting help with the controls of DooM
As the tittle says I need help. I want to change the keys I use for the movement, specially strafe left and strafe right. But I don't know whats number use. When I open the MOUSE configuration file I see something like this:

key_strafe 56

How I know which numbre is WASD?

Other thing, I'm trying to disable the movement using the mouse but when I put

mouseb_strafe 0

Doesn't happen anything, the game stills using the mouse to move.

I tried to modify too the joystick but for me it's pointless since I don't have a joystick.

Help me please.

PD: I've already search on google, all I found was how to setup the game, not the controls.

And I don't want to use sourceports. I want to play in DOSBox.

Correct me if I'm wrong but cant you simply go to the in-game options menu?

In-game press ESC > Options > and you can probably figure it out from there.. Or download GZDoom :P

Quick fix to disabling the mouse though... Don't use it.

The DOSBox only allow me to modify the mouse speed and the "screen size".

And as i said, I don't want source ports. I want my pixelated DooM. : )

Sorry I'm not more of a help then, I was for sure that Doom had an options menu in game to change controls but it's been so long since I've played Classic doom and not Zdoom or another port.

*** You need to edit the autoexec.cfg or dosbox.cfg to NOT run DOOM, then at the C:\> prompt run SETUP.EXE, then DOOM.EXE.

SETUP.EXE (via Dosbox) is how the keyboard keys can be changed. ***

Alternatively just use PrBoom with the WASD keys via "Doom in 60 seconds":
- Then click [Open Folder] and copy the DOOM.WAD file over and rename DOOM1.WAD to DOOM1.WAD.SHAREWARE or something else prior to clicking [Play Doom].

I'm working on making the music better in it too (EAWPATs for General MIDI sounding Wave Table Synth music on modern sound cards), but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

Easy fix for controls (reconfig ingame) and a 'better doom'...

1) Download ZDoom 2.7.1 (for Windows) from here:- http://zdoom.org/Download
2) Unzip/Copy all files into your Doom 'base' folder
3) Rename dosbox.exe to dosbox.exe.old
4) Rename zdoom.exe to dosbox.exe
5) On launching the game via Steam, in the ZDoom Launcher select 'The Ultimate Doom' (you can choose to remember this choice)

Note: Not sure if this makes any difference, but before I added ZDoom myself, I had followed the Community guide 'DOSBox - Getting the best out of Ultimate Doom', but still wasnt happy configuring the controls, so I then ploped ZDoom ontop of the changes made in the guide. Doom is running great and now looks better on Windows 7 64bit

Good try man, I aprreciate your help, but I did a guide of that (more specifically, about how to use GZDoom). As I said before, I'm trying to use the original dosbox, not other ports. Specially I don't want to use ZDoom or GzDoom, since I don't will use any mods or graphics modfications. Also, do not suggest me Chocolate Doom. For me is really bad the fact of claim support 16:9 monitors, and still have the bars. For that, is better using some commands and done.
