Workshop
alright heres an idea of mine i really want to share
Doom has a popular modding community, if not one of the most popular modding communities as the community has been around for a long time
if Duke Nukem can have Steam Workshop why not Doom? thats something they really need to add in

It's an 'id software' game, and the idea is good but the tools to modify Doom date back to when people ran MS-DOS and PC DOS on their machines more than Windows 3.x.

Some of the tools have not been updated for years (and don't need to be, so long as there is backwards compatibility).

There are tons of new Tools for new Operating systems including Linux and Mac. And Doom is what created mods, deathmatch, and many other things. It makes no sense that there is not a workshop. They're even given one to the orginal Shadow Warrior.

They could easily use one of the source port engines for their official steam version, make a wad launcher and support workshop. But this will never happen sadly.

Due to the way Doom handles launching mods, I do not think it would work. It doesn't have an in-game menu to select which mod you want to play, you have to use command-line switches to load the mod upon launch of the engine.

But there are already mod launchers out there :(
