DOOM (1993)
Brutal Doom questions
I want to know a few things before downloading Brutal Boom:
Can I play without mouselook?
Can I replace the updated graphics with the original sprites?
Is it possible to remove the reloading mechanic? (either through the options menu or through mods etc.)
Can I replace the assault rifle with the pistol?
Should I play through Doom 2 vanilla before playing Brutal Doom?
Can I change the gun sounds to the classic ones?
Is it possible to remove the rescuable marines from the game?
Can I remove/turn off jumping & crouching?
Am I able to turn off the iron sights?

Well basically I want the original doom experience with added gore :deadlyrabbit:

Note: I will update this if something else comes to mind.

I've not played Brutal DOOM in a while but, from what I can remember:

I think you can play without mouse look (even though I don't think it can be disabled), but it would make things much harder than they have to be.

I don't think Brutal DOOM edits any sprites (apart from when using any Brutal DOOM features ofc).

I don't think you can remove reloading, but I might be wrong about that one.

I'm pretty sure you can't swap the AR for the pistol, the whole point of the weapons in Brutal DOOM is that no one weapon is an "upgrade" to any other weapon (the way the chaingun is a "upgrade" of the pistol).

It's up to you, but I would say no as DOOM 2 can be pretty long and Brutal DOOM doesn't change anything apart from ways to kill enemies.

I think all original guns have thier original sounds apart from the shotgun (and maybe the chaingun), which I think sounds better.

I don't think so, but they are not needed so just don't use them if you don't want to.

I think only the AR can use the iron sights and you have to right click in order to ADS, so again just don't use it if you don't want to.

As insane as it sounds, I think Brutal DOOM makes every DOOM better, a small list of what makes it fantastic.....

It's even possible to mod' FreeDOOM with Brutal DOOM, so you can play the mod' and still play the FreeDOOM levels and the original enemies (imps are naga like snake things, demons are pink worms, barons of hell are centaur like and mancubus are... Just wierd).

It comes with it's own multiplayer server browser, so it's easy to find and play with others.

It comes with it's own "campaigns" including a PvB (player vs bot) mode that can (presummable) be played with others and a "Hoard" mode where you survive wave after wave of enemies.

If you ever thought vanilla DOOM wasn't hard enough...... Go and download the mod', NOW!
On the first level of the hoard mode campaign on the hardest difficulty I remember having to reload about..... 53 times just so I could run through a group of about 50 hell knights, I had to because there was another 50 behind me, I was out of ammo' and there was another 50 on the way, it's VERY hard, but not impossible.

When over 150 enemies charge you in a small corridor and you get your minigun out.....
It's FANTASTIC! By the dozen they get ripped to shreds, blood and limbs fly everywhere..... It's great haha.

Most levels are made really well, one or two could use improvments, but most of them are good.

If you've ever wanted to stand on a pain elemental, snap one of it's horns off and then stab it in the eye with it again and again, and again, AND AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN HAHAHAHAHAH-*Ahem* sorry about that. But yes if you ever thought "I think I should grab that demon by the horns and pull it's head in two." or "I am going to punch through that hell knight, grab it's spine and then pull it in half." then it's pretty much a must.

Also player death animations are pretty cool, getting pulled in half (both ways), getting curbstomped and having your head pulled off makes you dying pretty cool. You can also curbstomp, unarmed instakill assination from behind, headshot and many other things.

Brutal DOOM: Where Manhunt does meth' and than has a phycotic baby with DOOM.

EDIT: I also get a sick pleasure from kneecapping an imp, gut shoting it and as it's all limp on the floor trying to hold it's intestines in, pressing the key that makes you stick your middle finger up and say "Go **** yourself!" and then pulling its head off. Ah I love this *twitch* game....

You should have mentioned that those are features of Skulltag/Zandronum.

And to the OP, yes, you are able to do all of those things, and I'd recommend playing vanilla Doom before playing BD.

P.S

You should really consider The Doom Nukem Visor mod... gives Brutal Doom such a classy look.

I hope you have lots of fun, Brutal Doom is easily one of my favorite games.
