How the ♥♥♥♥ do I get this to work.

How the hell do I get this game to work. Everytime it loads with all the coding, it just freezes on a image of the ultimate doom color. And when I do get it to work, it's stuck in this one color which is red, and it's hard to play with it. Can anyone help me on how to fix this?

While you are trying out a source port, I recommend trying brutal doom.... Though, I think it only works for zandronum , and GZdoom.

You have to dig into the config files in the actual game directory. It's not rocket science, but it's also not entirely obvious.

Find where your Steam games are actually stored. Find 'The Ultimate Doom' directory and then go into the 'base' directory.

Mine is in "S:\Steam\steamapps\common\Ultimate Doom\base" but yours will be different.

Once there, you need to open the file "ultimate.conf" in a text editor (notepad will work fine).

1. Find the line that says "fullresolution=800x600" or "fullresolution=original" and change it to read instead "fullresolution=desktop"

2. Find the line that says "output=ddraw" and change it to read "output=openglnb".

3. Save the file.

You should make these same changes to the config file "ultimatem.conf" as well.

Chocolate doom doesn't run brutal doom...seriously give that mod a try, its one of the top mods out there.

I downloaded Chocolate DOOM and it works fine. but is there any way to bind the keys?? using the arrows is very annoying.

Hi I just fixed the Ultimate DOOM config file!!! So it works for me in STEAM. If you need the config file just send me a message. and I´ll send you the config files.

why would you need to send me the config files? I already got both zandronum and Brutal Doom to work, and if you want just regular doom, just remove the Brutal DooM skin folder
