Mouse not working with Brutal Doom? What am I doing wrong...
I just followed a guide to run the Steam Overlay while I play Doom and using the Brutal Doom mod. Driving me crazy.

What source port are you using?

For Zandronum (recommended) do this:

1. Download Zandronum (http://zandronum.com/downloads/zandronum1.2.1-win32-base.zip)
2. Extract and copy all the files to your Doom "steamapps\common\Ultimate Doom\base" folder.
3. Rename "zandronum.exe" to "dosbox.exe"
(backup the file "dosbox.exe" or rename it "dosbox.exe_bkp" before doing this step.)
4. Create a folder named "skins" (steamapps\common\Ultimate Doom\base\skins) and add all the desired mods and mutators.

Example:
BRUTALV19EE.PK3 - - - brutal doom 1.9 enhanced edition
DoomMetalVol4.wad - - - alternative music
BDMutator_v16zombiesounds.pk3 - - - replaces standard zombie sounds
SBrightmaps.pk3 - - - adds cool light effects and makes enemies eyes and items glow in the dark (needs OpenGL)
NCDEHUDv3-BDZanACS.pk3 - - - alternative HUD

5. Start your game with Steam. A popup windows will ask what Doom IWAD you want to use. Choose Ultimate Doom and check the video settings Hardware (OpenGL).

Will GZdoom work with Brutal Doom I ended up just using another program. Mouse works now with ease, but Brutal Doom doesn't seem to work with it. the pack files are in the skins folder

It should work fine with GZdoom. If you are having problems try Zandronum.

Ok thank you.

ok so I got it to work now thank you, BUT it won't launch the steam overlay...I changed Gzdoom to dosbox "renaming it" but Brutal Doom I think needs to launch with GZdoom to work. Is there a command line that needs to be added?

For GZDoom do this:

1. Download GZDoom (http://www.osnanet.de/c.oelckers/gzdoom/download/gzdoom-bin-1-8-02.zip)

2. Extract and copy all the files to your Doom "steamapps\common\Ultimate Doom\base" folder.

3. Rename "gzdoom.exe" to "dosbox.exe"
(backup the file "dosbox.exe" or rename it "dosbox.exe_bkp" before doing this step.)

4. Create a folder named "mods" (steamapps\common\Ultimate Doom\base\mods) and add all the desired mods and mutators to that folder.

Example:
mods\brutal19.pk3 - - - brutal doom 1.9
mods\DoomMetalVol4.wad - - - alternative music

5. Edit the zdoom.ini like this:

[Global.Autoload]
Path=lights.pk3
Path=brightmaps.pk3
Path=mods\brutal19.pk3
Path=mods\DoomMetalVol4.wad
