Dosbox is garbage, you gotta install some source port to actually play the game. I recommend Zandronum. Dont know why steam still uses dosbox, it stinks.

The site mentions that it works with Doom and Doom 2, but does it work with Ultimate and Final Doom?

Just use gzdoom for example.

Well, I play Ultimate Doom with Zandronum + Brutal Doom and it works really fine here on steam.

what i do is i right click the game, go to properties,click files, then browse local files then chose if you want to play doom with classic controlls or not

Gzdoom works with ultimate doom for sure. I just finished a playthrough. Just download it, download ultimate doom and launch gzdoom.exe and you should be fine. It also works with Doom II for sure since I tried that yesterday.

Works for any Doom engine game. Heretic, Hexen, Strife, Hacx, Chex Quest and the Freedooms, among others.

Exact same thing happened to me. I checked another maschine and it worked there. Then steam updated and voila: it crashes as well. Also Doom II is still working.

I guess steam has something to fix. Fast!

I managed to fix Ultimate Doom so you guys may be able to adapt this fix to Wolfenstein or other DOS games.

In the dosbox.conf file and the ultimatem.conf (Or the equivalent for the game you're trying to fix) there is a line:

fulldouble=

Make sure they're set to false in both

fulldouble=false

Find output= in both. Set them:

output=ddraw

In ultimatem.conf (Or the game file for your specific game) find aspect= set that true

aspect=true

Finally if you're having trouble with dual monitors find fullresolution= in both and set them to 1920x1080 (or your resolution)

fullresolution=1920x1080

Hope this helps and if anyone has any questions about this you can add me.
