This may require tweaking of the DOSBox.conf file(s), so that DOOM is not loaded.
Then you can run DOOM -wad [filename.wad] from the C:\> prompt like back in the old days.
There are also launchers, etc. to play DOOM with 3rd party, community made content.
I would recommend checking out Doomseeker and Chocolate Doom.
Chocolate Doom is a very faithful Doom port, it will make Doom run at the correct speed (35fps) and Doom will look and play like it did in the 1994. I love DosBox but it's not ideal for games like this.
Doomseeker makes it easy to play online and offline with or without mods and custom maps.
