DOOM/DOOM 4 (new doom game)
I gotta admit that i was not in that Quakecon to see the new DOOM revealed, but i gotta give up a huge thumbs up to my fellow true DOOM fans who booed at the presentation when "next gen" consoles were mentioned. Frankly i am now also again somewhat worried regardless of DOOM being said to be "fastpaced and no reloading or health regeneration", but it being on consoles day1 makes me think of past experience. Our modern fps hasn't exactly been designed for PC only so i have gotten a hunch that this will not be either and ultimately might actually disappoint.

If this new DOOM is being made yet once again in the capabilities of consoles (hardware and control scheme), then i have a feeling this wont be a true DOOM game, sadly. I guess it's just too much asked to make games like in the good ol' days, aka make and design a game for PC and afterwards port the simple console version from the PC game.

DOOM has been on consoles before, and those people wanted as much of the PC experience as possible. (Back then anyway...).

Apparently you have been living under a rock. Doom has been on practically every console ever created since the SNES. Doom has been on the ps1, snes, ds, 360, ps3, etc.

And apparently your reading comprehension skills are bloody terrible.

He was talking about it being designed FOR consoles FIRST, THEN carried over to PC, along with all the limitations and quirks that come with designing a game that has consoles as its #1 priority. The original Dooms were designed for PC FIRST, THEN ported over to consoles, introducing limitations per system as needed. They didn't design the limited, butchered up SNES version first, then carry that trash over to PC. But now they do that kind of crap all too often these days. That's what the topic creator is getting at.

first one to make a mod showing the doom marines reflection and facial reactions to the enivornment through the helmet lense wins.

all i saw in the trailer was some generic halo hud...
definitely was not a doom hud...
immediately when the doom marines helmet went on...
and there was no doom guy's face...
i shouted "where is his FACE!?"

the doom guys face is a part of doom...
its iconic. it belongs in doom always.

also in doom4..
the mobs are dropping health packs.
thats not a doom thing at all..

i have little hope that id/bethesda will make "doom"
i do have faith that they will give the modders enough tools
to make whatever "doom" they can imagine..

and to me its really the only saving grace for "doom"
hopefully some modders can deliver something better.

i bought doom3...
i beat doom3.

i can confirm 110% that doom3 is not a doom game.
its a generic fps that showcased lighting technology
cloaked and themed as a "doom" game.

i havent forgotten that, and i havent forgiven that.

im still waiting for the next "doom" game...

like a 10%-20% opacity face.

or... whoever makes a modernized version of the classic doom hud....

nothing better than being at 10% hp with a big ♥♥♥♥ eating grin on your face
in a grand moment of doom...

if they can do it in starcraft... doom... etc... in the 90s...

they can do it today. ffs.

Ya I'd love to see the classic hud in a modern Doom game

Though tbh I did like the look of the new HUD, I liked the way it looks like it's acctually displayed from inside his helmet

@OP, I don't think the game being released on consoles is going to affect the game at all, only thing is that it won't be super fast paced.. Like it won't be as fast paced as Rise of the Triad, but looking at the E3 presentation, I personally think this new Doom coming out looks fantastic

Could you maybe elaborate abit more OP? You state that releasing it on consoles will compromise the quality of the game, but you have not stated WHY it will compromise the quality of the game.. Only thing I can think of that it would affect is the Movement Speed

I'm glad it's for consoles. I have an xbox one. I like consoles how everything is fixed for you and you don't have to do manual fixes by yourself. Controllers are cool also. But I'm sure everything will be fine and the PC version will be fine. Don't get all wound up over nothing.
