Early Access Review
I really want to like this game. It's essentially a castle building/defence simulator that has potential in droves. However, the game faces problems in the AI and has not had any significant updates for ages. Castle Story's AI is servicable at best, but the 'bricktons' will constantly stop and admire the scenery. The AI is at it's worst when assigned to a building project. They will constantly build the closest block to them, meaning that quite regularly, they will completely freeze as their pathfinding spends time trying to redirect the brickton. This wastes precious time in survival mode when you are trying to set up defences before the next wave of enemies comes charging in.
The lack of updates makes it feel like the devs have almost abandoned the game, as in the past year there has been no significant update to the gameplay at all. The promise of world generator has been hovering around ever since I bought the game a year ago, but I have still to see any evidence of it being implemented into the game.
TL;DR : Game has large amount of potential but falls flat with buggy AI and lazy dev team
