"Missing Executable"
If you get this error it is possible your Steam client needs an update.

Try the following:
- Verify game cache
- Restart Steam
- Completely uninstall and reinstall the game

How to properly uninstall completely:
- Right click the game and "Remove local content"
- Remove any files/folders left in your User or Steam library.
- Restart Steam

The game size is listed for download at 135 mb... the game size is listed on the store page at more than 2 gb. I don't think any amount of restarting will help.

If you follow the instructions you should receive the correct file

sorry, but how do I 'verify game cache'. I just don't know.

Ah, sorry. Right click the game in your Steam library -> Properties -> Local Files -> Verify... But restarting Steam might be enough.

Completely uninstalling the game and downloading it again worked for me. But I only have around 570 MB in the MotE steam folder, far from the 2 GB announced.
jnpoint Feb 18, 2013 @ 2:04pm
the download file is 353.8 mb is that the right size?
The Zealot Feb 18, 2013 @ 2:04pm
It is.

now I have tried the same thing 3 times, and the problem is still the same. After the paradoxpicture it crashes to windows and says: 'MotE.exe stopped working'. Is this a another problem as described here? then I'm sorry to have entered this thread.

That is not the same issue, no. My only advice right now is to try and install DirectX9 on top of your 11 installation (which is what I assume you are running now) and visit the official tech forums if the problem persists: http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?776-MotE-Tech-Support-amp-Bug-Reports

my download size says that it is only 157.0 mb not 353.8 or even 570 mb
The Zealot Feb 18, 2013 @ 2:51pm
570 MB is the size of the game after the installation is completed. The files to download from the Steam servers are 353.8 MB.

The best way to receive technical support is to visit forum.paradoxplaza.com and register your CD-key.

But you can try installing DirectX 9 manually. You can run DirectX9 and 11 parallel on your computer.
