You know what justifies the price of this game on Steam?
the dev wanting to make an ACTUAL PROFIT off of his creation, that's what.

Also, ongoing dev support. Since posting, a "reset game" button has been added to this version due to popular request.

'course, I find it rather pathetic that a $5 price for a game needs to be "justified" at all...

Exactly.
All this comes down to is this: if the game is fun and keeps you occupied, great!
I found it, i bought it, it's entertaining and it's a well made game. End of.
If you didn't enjoy it, well, that's a shame. You chose to spend your money on it. It's not exactly overly expensive.
I thought it was a reasonable price, and as any programmer knows, a game such as this was not made overnight.
I'm just tired of looking at comments saying what a waste of effort this game turned out to be.
SIGH.

The game would sell much more than double the amount of copies if it was $2, like on iOS. At $2, it'd be new (and advertised by TotalBiscuit and the New Releases tab) and so stupidly cheap that people would buy it even without any intention of actually playing it. Just look at Rome: Total War during Total War Week. At $1, everyone and their mother bought the game just because.
At $5, the game has to compete with a massive amount of longer, more complete, and sometimes flat-out better game out there on Steam.

So you're telling me everyone that makes games for iOS just does it for fun right? I mean, considering that you can't make money off of it.

Reasonable price it may be, but I can see why PC gamers would feel somewhat betrayed.

I can, too. But I bet the reason I see is much more negative than yours.

UPDATE: Just got to 10,000,000 and it took me 7 hours and 46 minutes.... not too bad considering I only paid $4 for the thing, plus there's a couple of difficult achievements to shoot for that'll extend that time if I choose to persue them.

I also do not appreciate the devaluing of games. I personally do not buy a lot of games, but when I do I care about whether the developer is actually making money or just trying to compete with other prices.

After playing 10000000 for a couple hours it is definitely worth the $4-5 for the developers hard work.

The thing is, why does the OP want me to pay for lost income from IOS users?

The thing is, the OP said nothing about iOS users.

Sure but since OP implies that the developer doesn't make ACTUAL PROFIT if sold for less than steam price it means that steam users pay for ios users.

Only if you're grasping for straws. Otherwise, it means that Steam users are, by paying the listed price, allowing the developer to make a decent profit.
wyt_gogogog 2013 年 1 月 30 日 下午 2:10
Selling a product for less than half of what you would need to make a decent profit is a far cry from grasping straws my friend.

The costs of releasing are similar for the dev (i think both apple and steam ask about 30%) and most of the game was already done so the steam version should have been cheaper. So why is it reasonable to ask more than twice on this platform compared to iOS?
Or to say it differently, why did the dev not want to make a profit on iOS but now asks us steam community to pay for the development?
A Gelatinous Cube-Z- 2013 年 1 月 30 日 下午 2:18
Because in order to compete on the iOS market, a product must be sold at a very reduced cost which will severely hinder the making of a profit. How is that so hard for you to understand?

If you can't make a profit on that platform WHY on earth would that be your first target platform?
All you are saying now is that the developer was stupid enough to compete on a market where he can't make a good profit so now he comes to us and wants us to compensate for his stupid idea to compete on the iOS platform by selling his game for more than twice the price.
Great..,., :/
