All that posting and his question remains unanswered. =/

I just purchased a Volvo, put a decent (600-ish HP) engine in it, but left the stock transmission in. My game is using the TSM 2.0 mod, which unlimits speeds above 90(?)kph.

Before the mod, I could go 90, and faster if it was downhill. After the mod, I can go over 90 either on flats or downhill. At no point playing ETS2 have I ever been limited to 70kph with *any* engine/transmission.

I think your problem either lies elswehere (mods?), or is a symptom of the load you're hauling and the terrain. It isn't a problem with the engines/transmissions as they were designed.

That's the problem!

Try setting it to automatic shift and see if that lets the truck go to max speed.

There should be two range shift buttons, one shifts 1..6 vs 7..12, the other should shift 7..12 vs 13..18.

I did the same thing (almost). I bought the 18 speed and found it hard to shift. Also the top gear is the same as in the 12 speed so it does not go any faster, just a lot more shifting. The thing is that I skip most of the gears anyway so what's the point of having an 18 speed instead of a 12 speed? Well, maybe better pulling power on up-slopes.

..this... I only use a 16 or 18 with a sub 500hp engine. Above 500 better to go with a 12 or at most a 14.

- I tried a 1,850 hp engine recently, was able to take off, fully loaded, in 12th gear so a ONE speed box is all I needed - lol :)
