I guess you gotta ask the map developer who made that :)

seriously, is it possible to modify this mod to translate the name of cities from russian to english ?

In the folder "/def/city/" are the definitions for the cities including their names.

Can you change the text of the city name there and does it change in the game? I don't know.

Look in the Mod files of that map Mod for the city folder, open one of the files and see if the names are in Cyrillic characters. Use a translater (Google translate) to get the English names. Rewrite the city files with English characters.

Create a Mod of your own from the standard English city files that overrides that Map mod's city folder. To override a Mod's files the overriding Mod needs to load last, name the Mod alphabetically to load after the Mod you want to override.

It's also possible that you might need to add a localization file for English but I've never messed with the locale.scs file.

Alternatively... Get a map, learn Cyrillic. Yeah, I know you're going to do that!
there's no map file in this mod . so i can't change anything.there is only two files scs

Unzip (with 7zip, WinRar or WinZip) the .scs files (in a temporary folder) then you'll see the contents.

There has to be a /map/europe.mbd file if the Mod replaces your stock map. Don't mess with that file! Just look for the city files.

What Mod is it that you downloaded? I could have a look at it myself.

This one?: Russia-Ukraina.by.Monster.rar
That one's got a whole lot of changes, maybe it's not even compatible with v1.3.1 patch. says it was tested with v1.2.5 patch.

[EDIT] I downloaded the Mod above, DO NOT USE IT! It cannot be examined because it uses a protected zip format, so the user cannot find out exactly what changes have been made and you cannot edit anything in it. I personally refuse to use any Mod that I cannot first examine. I don't mean any disrespect to the author(s), I'm sure it's a nice Mod, but I just won't use a Mod without knowing exactly what it changes.

And forget the rest that I've said, you cannot do anything with that Mod except use its entire contents or not use it.

If you are able to find the files and modify them, zip the folder(s) back up with the "store" option, rename them appropriately with an .scs extension and put them back in your "mod" folder. Take the originals out of the mod folder.

Or... you could just wait for the official Eastern European expansion DLC which they are working on right now.

That is correct.

You cannot translate it because you cannot get access to its configuration files.

Well, the Mod documentation says that the names (and roadsigns) are deliberately changed to Russian. So I guess you could expect that. It might be nice if there was an English version.

Contact author? I guess not because that info is not given with the Mod. It should be a requirement that a contact address be supplied with every Mod. But it isn't.

I look at a couple of websites where the Mod is available and I could not find a way to leave a message for the author or even for the Webmaster of the site.
