Same here lost my almost level 30 profile :D way to go SCS...

When the game fails to load save, it tries all other saves from the latest to the oldest until it finds one which succeeds. In this case it was likely caused by removal of the mods as not all mods can be safely removed once they are used by profile (for example some cargo mods).

The pink thumbnails in last screenshot are caused by directly copying the older profiles into the new game profiles directory. When the game automatically updates the directory after upgrade, it ensures that existing thumbnails remain valid. This correction will not happen if you put the older profiles directly to the "profiles" directory.

Well actualy on my side i didn't remove any mods..i just played it once it was updated and when i tried to load my profile = crash ... so if i remove mods it wont work either and does this means because the game got updated that the current Mods version aren't compatible? if so both ways its screwd? lol

it crashes every time i try to load a game with 2 or more truck in it.

I just tried, I selected all my mods off and it took away my level 27 profile. I looked in the folder and they've added another 1.3 folder of save games etc.

It depends on what the mod does.

Some mods do only light things like changing some configuration parameter, sound, texture or existing model (to some degree). Such mods might work with the new version without problem or at least they can be safely removed. For example mod changing vehicle physics might cause crash with the new version because it creates incompatible data however its removal unhides the existing object so everything works.

Mods adding new stuff (cargoes for example) are problematic as references the new objects might become embeded to the save and removal of the mod will break the save. The new version corrects some from such situations (mostly related to vehicle accessories) however not all of them.

The proper fix is for the authors of the incompatible mods to update them for the 1.3.0. This is why we had a warning about the possible incompatibility between the mods and the new version a few days ago in the ingame news.

can i remove patch 1,3? maby then im am able to save my lvl 17 profile again without any mods and reinstall patch?

As I said, some from those mods you had are referenced by the save files. When you remove them, the game is unable to load the save and falls back to the default behavior. You might find clue about the missing stuff in the game.log shown when attempting to load the save. When you find which mod(s) it is, you need to put it back. It is possible that it is still compatible. If it is not, you need to find a updated version of that mod.

Well thanks for the help... helped me finding which mods wasnt working for me it was,Winter mod,Physic Mod,and the Peterbilt 387.... im gonna miss the winter mod :/ (BTW that active mods in edit profile is really nice!)

Thanks for your help Komfr, It's VERY good the game backs up your most recent save prior to the patch. At least I haven't lost my game profile. Mainly I only care about how many miles I've logged on my profile and truck. But yes the game crashes when I use the few mods I downloaded but maybe a update to them will save my game. I HOPE! Don't want to remake as I did everything legit. >.< Just used some mods to make things look cooler!

As a TEMPORARY solution for people which need to wait for update of some incompatible mod, I created a temporary "beta" which corresponds to the 1.2.6.1 version. Open the Properties of the ETS2 and in the Betas tab select "temporary1261". The Steam will revert the game to that state. You then need to copy the saves from the "profiles(1.3.0s).bak" backup directory back into the original "profile" directory where the 1.2.6.1 expects them.

Note that this is TEMPORARY solution and we will probably discontinue that branch some time in the future.

Note that the game creates the "profiles(1.3.0s).bak" backup only the first time it runs the 1.3.0s version (it remembers that in the backups.txt file) so remember to take manual backup of the profiles (or delete the backups.txt file) when switching back to the non-beta state in the future.

OMG I love you Komfr! <3 Doing that now. Just going to resort everything back to stock and I'm assuming saving that then updatin will work with the current patch? Least crossing my fingers!

It depends on what the mod does. Some mods might be more embedded and you might be unable to remove them even in the older version however at least you can continue to play until they are updated to be compatible.

My level 30 profile tries to load and crashes. Do I have to start a new profile, going right back to the start...?
