Hello Stonehenge! Jan 22, 2013 @ 9:48pm
You missed a couple of important things that are mentioned in the description of the video. Like how the author asks that you do NOT upload the files to another site or provide mirror links, which you have done. He also mentions that while it's okay to repost on other forums he requests that you credit the original author, which you have NOT done.

It's great that you really like the mod and want to bring it to other people's attention, but you really need to respect the wishes of the author.

For anyone else reading this, go to the actual Youtube page of this video and read the description.

Oh boy, another one of these mod developers suffering from a touch of megalomania. I thought we had finally gotten past this. Not wanting people to mirror the .scs files instead of a .zip with a readme or something containing details is one thing.

Demanding that every forum thread mentioning this mod mention his name, on the other hand, is so ridiculous and based so far out of reality that it's not even funny.

Mod authors depend on their reputation when making mods. If they make enough good ones that get known in that particular game's community, they'll have an easier time getting a job (or a better one) in the game industry. Many mod makers have gone on to good careers thanks to their early work. Asking to have their name attached to their mod is far from megalomania, it's simple courtesy in the modding world.

As for not wanting the mod mirrored, it's because Adfly links earn the owner a little chump change, so downloading the file from another source denies the owner that small bit of income. These particular links go directly to the owner's Dropbox source; you can't get easier to download than that.

There's these things called "readmes". This is your way of having people recognize your work without demanding that they follow some unenforceable rule about requiring your name to be plastered all over anything mentioning your mod. If you make a good mod, people will mention your name anyway. It's not your place to demand that.

The adfly thing is just ridiculous. Ask for donations or whatever, don't try and force people to take down a mirror because you've attached a referrer to your specific link of choice that earns you a tiny amount of money.

I've been on the modding scene for a long time. I'd never dream of demanding things like this, especially the adfly thing. If you're not paying money for hosting, you have no right to try and force people to only download your mod via an ad-based referrer that gives you money.

Are we supposed to place both of these files in the mods folder or just choose one or the other depending on what type of truck we are driving?
Justice 88 [NL] Jan 23, 2013 @ 8:33pm
Those files are for different wheels, 4x2 6x4 and so on i believed. Better place both files in your mod folder!

And Stonehenge, i do not take this mirror down, because people want to download files easy, and NOT with 1000ths ads all around a tiny download text.

I agree, do not take it down

what is up with the mod sites for this game and their sleezy ad tactics? I get trying to make money from ads but FFS they are taking it a bit too far on some of those sites lol

Installed this mod after I purchased the game the other day. Uninstalled it when I noticed a reversing bug (kept rolling back until I crashed, couldn't change to a forward gear). I believe that is because of an incompatibility with the latest game version.

Any idea if it will be addressed to make it compatible, because it was a good mod aside from that one bug?

Ah - I see this has been fixed. Apologies.

What the f*** ? Last time i checked, the 1.7 was the last official one, the 1.8 was bogus but now, there is a 4.0 ? Where and when the 2.0 and 3.0 were released ?

Seems like he missed a lot of things. If you're going to post something of this nature, you should post everything about it. Not just a download link.
