Speed limits and a few other questions?
I am new to European roads, and have no clue on the speed differences between MPH and KM/H. Are all the countries the same and use KM and so I should switch my gauge to show that instead of MPH(which if is the case why is that not default?). I keep getting speeding tickets when my MPH shows the speed of the red signs in some places but not others. I am also having troubles being able to tell which side of the road to drive on lol, as in London(my home) I drive opposite of the US. But when I ferry it seems to switch sides you drive on? Is it really that way in Europe? It seems rather pointless and confusing lol. Also I am not able to see stop lights when I pull up to the line and stop since the stop lights are on the same side of the road...

The must country in Europe use km/h it's only in England and Australia you use mp/h

That seems odd, I guess it is like the US not using the metric system lol. I think I may restart in Germany or somewhere then instead of the UK.

Europe drives on the right, except for England.
For the game, all countries have the same speed limits, probably to make it easier on the players. (80 km/h on the highways, above that speeding tickets are possible)

Roughly: 30 mph = 50 kph, 50 mph = 80 kph
Those are the two most common ones you'll meet.

As for restarting you just mentioned: You don't have to do that, but you can switch your interior from UK to standard, that'll switch the wheel and what not to the other side as well though :-)

Alright thanks, I will adjust accordingly. However an educational question, as that speed seems really low for a highway. In the US the speeds around here average 60-70 mph on a highway(inside and outside of town respectively(though I have seen 80mph through Tennessee), and I have heard of places in Europe where there is no speed limit(like the Autobahn). I think our speeds are kinda slow on a straight highway honestly, is the game just catering to a simple perspective or is it really that slow in most of Europe?

Most speed limits on motorways varies from 100 kph to 130 kph. I think only Germany still has sections of the autobahn that are without speed limits (not entirely without consequences though).

However, those are all for cars. For freight traffic the limit is always 90 kph. Which is why European trucks have a limiter at that speed.

It's both a simple perspective, but the speed limits (for trucks), are generally low.
For Denmark, it's 80 kph, but all trucks in Europe are speed limited to 90 kph max, as far as I am aware.

Cars, on the other hand, follow the signs (110-130 kph, with the Autobahn being a special case)

I asked this when I first started European working. The best thing I found, was to set in options KPH. That way you can see MPH (which is used in UK) on your speedo and see KPH (used European) on your dashboards readout by selecting it with I by default. You will soon get the feel of what MPH & KPH equal each other....

Thanks for all the answers interesting! Also thanks for the tip capt. Cliff for in-game.

You can disable the truck speed limiter, I've hit 140 kph on my first car before.

I fail to see what that has to do with my post. But yeah, you can. I was answering a question on what the real life speed limits are.

Limits in Continental Europe are in Kilometres per hour, In the UK, they are in Miles per hour. Signs with a red circle indicate maximum speed, signs with thee diagonal bars mean end of posted speed limt.

Well, this is not really correct answer.

So far speed limits are:
City: 50 km/h (30 MPH)
City highway: 70 km/h (42 mph)
Classic country roads: 90 km/h (55 mph)
Highways: 110 km/h ( 66 mph)

Some road sections in Germany have 60 km/h (36 Mph) speed limit. Usualy it is entrance on highway, or dangerous turns

But AI is really ultra dumb and driving like 90-95 on Highway or is stuck behind Truck on country road, driving 55 km/h. It really driving me mad

Is your reply for real life, or the game? Mine is for the game. It's not even possible for the trucks to reach 110 km/h (without turning off "realism" features) :-)
City highway o_O The cities aren't THAT big. :-p
