From the SCS forum:
if you have disabled fuel consumption simulation, the game works as before - fuel consumption is computed purely from eco driving skill.
if you have enabled fuel consumption simulation, then consumption is computed from your driving style.

Air brake simulation, well, simulates having air brakes. Which also means you cannot drive unless you have pressure for them.
so to resemble real life both of these ahould be ticked i presume

this air brake sim..do you have to use certain trucks for this, my volvo i havent seen anything about pressure before setting off
vonswe 20. Feb. 2014 um 14:08
Hey. it works on all trucks. They all have full breakpipe pressure when you first start them. Everytime you press and release the brakes, the pressure drops. Do it too often in a short time and the compressor cannot refill it in time and you have to wait for the pressure to come back.
To see your air pressure in some trucks you need to press I until the pressure page comes up. To refill the air tank you will want to run the engine around 1500 RPMs and be in neutral. Really you hardly ever have to worry about it.

The Air Brake Sim setting is not intended to be used when using keyboard controls.

why is that? I have been using it, and it seems to work properly

one major change the airbrake simulation being enabled fixes is how you used to be able to eventually get the parking bonus by just not giving up and fidgeting with your positioning for a while, with the airbrakes simulated it's much less worthwhile to try reparking.

love having both these options, they add a nice feel of realism to the game.

no clue what he's on about, never used anything but keyboard and it works perfectly with or without airbraking simulation enabled.

zbobg know more about this game than most. That's why I'm curious why he said that, because it does seem to work exactly the way it should, even with keyboard driving.

^^ Well... Because keyboard drivers tend to use too much brake thereby using up the air rather quickly.

Now, there is the possibility that SCS has changed the behavior of the Air Brake when the user is using keyboard controls. Maybe in the latest patches it (the air supply) is less sensitive than it was when originally released.

I use a G27 and have never had a low air problem, except when I deliberately pumped the brakes to see if the air would run out. It did but it took a lot of pumping the brakes.

ahh, well I don't hardly use my brakes at all, except to come to a final stop or make a rare emergency stop. Guess that could be why they seem to work for me.

I use keyboard and regularly used to run out of air pressure. Now I favour exhaust brake and retarder instead to slow the truck when driving so have pleanty of air when it comes to manouvering, Obviouslty it helps that by parking the truck manually each time I am now considerably better at it than I used to be.

I therefore assume it remains accurately modelled regardless of control system employed - but I may be wrong.

Doesn't stop me wanting a G27 though...
