Auto transmission vs. manual
I like manuals transmission but I'm starting like real auto transmission instead because seam like smooth ride and hand does not hurt shift so much from using manual one.Only thing I notice with a real auto transmission is they are slower on hills then a manual one and that only con of auto ones.

So what everyone else like best manuals or auto transmissions.

I like my auto as I do not have a shifter. Plus I use a game pad. Then again I am a lazy bugger and hate the thought of changing gears myself. But yes auto is slower on hills. I recomend using manual for the experiance and ease to drop gears quicker when needed.

Not sure if troll... but.
Manual all the way, RL and game.
It saddens me that kids these days aren't getting their manual licence anymore, and confuses me that they then go into jobs that require them to drive with only an auto permit.

In game, I used sequential when I was using my xb360 pad, but upgraded that to a G27 because I needed the manual with clutch and h-shifter.

where are there separate licenses for manual trans? or is it a CDL thing? idk, you just know or dont know how to drive a 5 speed here.

and yeah, i will never drive a auto. manuals are too much fun.

Sequential. Most realistic representation of current "automatic" gearboxes (which aren't exactly automatic). Ingame auto is a bit slow, and not even close to IRL I-Shift or Opticruise.

I have g27 so I use manual all the time, much more fun that way.

Manual

Never even tried auto. Only used sequential manual.

Funny thing is, I'm taking my Class A training now and driving a truck with an auto. I told my instructor that after I get my licence I wanted to find another school and take lessons from them driving a manual. He talked me out of it.

in game, sequential manual.

real life, automatic all the way. When I was younger I drove several manual vehicles. As I've gotten older I've come to enjoy the comfort of an automatic.

Uk you have seperate ones. Personally if you know what your doing you can tune an auto to be pretty much close to a manual now. Plus you can get those autos that allow you to change gear if you wish. Neighbour is a Private Taxi driver and his car is like that. So probably wont be to soon till that is possible in a rig.

Yeah my personal car actually has a ZF 6 speed sequential, I would have prefered a 6 speed manual, but this one was selling for $8000 below market price, I've had it for over 3 years and still can't figure out why :)
The sequential isn't bad, it has plenty of oomph behind it, but it just isn't the same as having a manual with a clutch.

I use the real auto, but have button set on G25 for retarder, plus hau
l heavys, for my vtc, sas.lmg, so use a 28 speed tranny, to shift up I just slip the shifter from drive to N then back to drive, has you can get to the top range with out waiting for the revs to get up to the change piont. Plus if I switch to a 38 speed tranny the aut shift quits around gear 25, so have to shift manually from there.

I been reading about automatic transmission in real semi truck and most truck have switch allow go manual if you need to .So why does ets2 don't allow you to set button to switch back and forth from auto to manual like real life.

id imagine switchable transmissions like that are like sport shifting automatics in cars, with a sequential style shifter rather than a true stick on the floor.
