Germany, why are your speed-limits so slow?
I just want to know why your speed limits are so slow. I'm one of the few foreingers that know that not every road is the Autobahn and even a few of those have speed limits now, but what of your back roads. Serously, I'm going from Rotterdam to Duisburg and as soon as I cross from the Netherlands into Germany, the speed limit drops from a reasonable 50mph to a crawling 31mph (37mph at times). Why so slow?

That's just the way it is in real life. 37 mph is standard. 40 ton trucks are not intended for racing. But most trucks are driving 70 - 80 km/h (up to 49 mph) in reality.

So, even in the 37mph zone, they're still traveling around 50mph? I don't really care about racing, it's just every other country has spoiled me with 50-60mph and then I hit Germany and suddently 35mph on a road were you could do 50mph.

The 60 km/h speed limit in Germany is this way in real life, too, I suppose. It's honestly kind of annoying, but this is a game, so you can largely ignore it if you wish to.

Most around 45, some 50 or more. But of course they will get fined for speeding if they get caught.

Not really. I mean, while i am from Germany i certainly haven't travelled each and every highway, or country road in this case - but from my experience i cannot remember one country road going 60. Common limits for those are 70 / 80 which seems to be also the speed at which most trucks travel i see over there. However, i cannot tell if thats also the speeds a truck is supposed to or rather, allowed to have on those as i am no trucker myself. But yea, real life and ingame doesn't match in this case. At least for the area where i come from, which is close to Dortmund.

For cars. Trucks over 7,5 tons are not allowed to drive faster than 60 on country roads.

Not in the truck. Truck's limits are much lower. 80km/h on highways and 70/60km/h on country roads.

On parts of it there is no speed limit at all......at least for all vehicles up to 3,5t

The tractor alone is more than 3,5t, lol.

Not true. Poland is in EU and motorway speed limit for car is 140km/h

Autobahn 80kmh, normal rural roads 60kmh

On such roads, as well as motorways, a recommended speed limit (Richtgeschwindigkeit) of 130 km/h (81 mph) applies. While driving at higher speeds is not punishable, the increased risk induced by higher speeds (erhöhte Betriebsgefahr) may result in partial liability for damages. Moreover, the law forbids travel at speeds that would extend the vehicle's minimum halting distance beyond the driver's line of sight.[16] On all German roads, there are speed limits for trucks, buses, cars towing trailers, and small motorised vehicles (Mopeds, etc.).

So posting wrong information and then correcting yourself was the reason to resurrect this old thread?
