I have tried this program for the first time, on December 18th of 2014, and I can honestly say that this program is recommendable for people starting out on game design and programming. The tutorial included in the program when you open it up is clear and concise. Since I was new to this program and used to GameMaker Studio, I was confused at first, but the instructions of the tutorial easily made it clear to understand how to do it. And the layering is quite a wonderful idea.
The upsides are the excellent clarity of instructions in the tutorial, the application of collision polygons to adjust to the sprite's parameters, and the use of origin markers to keep them in one place so they're not jerking around when you get them off of an animation strip. On top of that, the normal version is free.
The only downside is that it can be confusing for those who are used to more complex game construction programs.
All in all, I recommend this to anyone who is frustrated by the more complex game construction programs.
