Summary of the game (no spoilers). At first, my review was positive, but then I changed my mind. Here is why -
Story 3/5 -> Original, somewhat engaging, but a bit shallow
Graphics 4/5 -> for an action/tower defence game pretty decent
Voice acting/ cinematics 1/5 -> terrible voice acting, but that is not such a big deal. Cinematics are a nusiance.
Gameplay 2/5 -> You want to play. You want to think about the layout of your traps and strategy. But the game will not let you. It is very easy to place the traps, and melee combat is mostly about going near enemy, hitting MB1 (your character will target and hit enemy automatically, even if they are behind you) and sometimes dodging or running away. Shooting would be more fun, but you need to reload every shot which takes way too long for practical purposes and is impossible in melee combat. You can not place traps exactly where you want them, (I am not talking about terrain restriction now), so they happen to be too much to sides for maximizing their potential - and that is just irritating. You also keep XP even from nights you fail, so you are rewarded for failing. It also makes the game less chalenging, which sux.
In-game mechanics and options 5/5 -> there is everything that fits the atmosphere and nothing more that could disturb or overhype it. It is detailed, but not overdone, they put a lot of time into it and they did a good job. It also works quite well, I only saw one or two minor bugs. + they explain the mechanics very well.
Saves and loads mechanics 0/5 -> Daytime starts by cinematics, after that you tend to plant traps for waves of enemies that come at night. There may be 1-6 waves each night. If you screw up even the last wave, you need to start from daytime again (you can relocate the traps) and go again through all the waves. If, however, you decide to turn the game off, it will start with the beginning cinematics of the day the next time you play it, and your traps will be deleted, so you need to place them again. The game loads extremely slowly for such a small game, but the loading song makes up for it.
Fun 3/5 -> This game had great potential. It could have been so much better, perhaps the most complete tower defence / action game hybrid ever made. After a few rounds (when my review was positive) I had great expectations and was looking forward to playing this game. But as I played, it was becoming somehow irritating because of the factors mention above. Still, it was a decent game.
Shoul you buy it? No. It is definitely not worth the price.
However, If you see it on a sale like -80% or so, then YES, you will not regret it.
