no sandbox :(
can t stand a short game with no sandbox option. love the gameplay, but campaign mode, going from one mission to another (like a ♥♥♥♥in ♥♥♥♥♥♥ with no other options at all) is not for me. would be great if it had a global map with towns and cities where one could chose a place to visit and help ppl fight the monsters.

i dont understand why they make games like this. and how can ppl play this type of games. i miss games like Arcanum and fallout :( one would think that after so many years someone will finally create something worth playing...but more and more i start to realize that that will never happen.

a ♥♥♥♥in 5 minute game like this, not worth a cent to me. :(

Well sounds to me like you have a game to go design ;)

all gonna say is game looks pretty good for what it stands on plus is only tome1 buy it and that would support devs and they would bring it to the next level ... maybe:D

no i dont think i have what it takes...but seeing so many good looking games with great ideas...but short and limited like this...it just make me sad.
this one, its a very nice game and have lot to it...but jumping from one mission to another like that, it just kills the game.

Well you never know till you try it. Not every game can be a sandbox, but if you really want to see one, start thinking of what it can be, and write it down.

Caguamo, yeah but the 2nd tome will be in the same style im sure...its faster to make games like this. thats why.
falloutttt Jun 5, 2013 @ 4:02pm
its not really all about sandbox...i just think it would be better if it had sandbox...

i need a game like Arcanum where one travel(on a large map) with a party(gang) to a location of choice and so on...the jumping from one mission to another is like a virus in nowadays games...no freedom. i want FREEDOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Yea man like Dumtl said not every game can be sanbox on the other hand the combination of strategy and rpg is nicely done IMO thats how u start.. small if that idea its great u never know whta would next be werewolfs in space maybe perhaps super heroes with lumberjack abilites and kitties flying on outer space shooting rainbows out their poopholes oh the possibilities XD

TES series, or X series by Egosoft (X3: Reunion), if you haven't played already, you can do whatever you want there, hundreds of hours of gameplay for each game easily.

Sandbox games generally take a lot more effort to create and balance, so even if a game would have hugely benefitted from an open world, many devs either don't have resources to make it or don't want to bother with it.

While I like this game and appreciate the efforts put in it and while I don't approve the original poster's slightly vulgar words, I kind of agree with him.

You have kind of wasted enormous potential here by limiting the game to prescripted missions only. You should have considered designing a world map, with a good number of towns and available fights in them, each varying in difficulty. A little space for grinding experience (not the MMO-style hard, long and tedious grinding but one that gives the player opportunity and something to keep on for) would be fine as well.

I am not dissing or criticizing the devs here. Please note that. I really love this game, the nicely executed soundtracks, the whole game idea, implementation of melee and firearms, trapping strategies and so on. But please note this opinion down for further improvement. A little bit more freedom would make this a killer game.

Is anyone else thinking sequel here? I think if you want to use these ideas productively, (which im not convinced everyone is here for) then helping the devs by buying this and encouraging them to continue their work is your best route

Well, I am a buyer (not a discount buyer, a prepurchaser indeed) and as I wrote before, I don't intend to bash Sang Froid. On the contrary, I praise this game sincerely.

The point you make is true though. This idea could be taken into consideration if there are plans for a sequel.

I wonder if Tome II will have an Endless Winter mode. No story, just survive as long as you can against endlessly ramping up amounts of monsters determined to wipe you from their forest.

sorry guys i was a little vulgar indeed.
i had no intentions to insult anyone. in any way.
the reason i said what i said was not because this game sucks, but actually because i like it alot. i wouldn't say anything if i dint like this game. i was just hopping there would be more to it then just missions. i would pay 30+ $ for this game if it had a large map to walk around and the freedom of choice as where to go and what to do.

thanks for all the help with other games u guys mentioned :)
