loving the game...
but these maikains are ♥♥♥♥♥♥ hard. cant bait them, their tanky as hell, and the paths they come in on are to quick. im on ch 11 i think and it took me like 15 tries to get past it, and then only barley. this next level is even more nuts

i just wish it was a larger production game with better grafix. gimmie this game as a skyrim level graphic engine and id love it more

They're tricky, firewalls are the best way to delay them since the bait doesn't work. Without a silver axe, just make sure you have enough traps to handle them!
Also, a wolf trap under a net trap is pretty effective ;-)
yeah i try to do traps under hanging traps, but i cant reload quick enough to hit the 3 maikains on (each on a diff path) and i cant manae to time them correctly to prevent them from hittng up my buildings.
Ch 12 has the 3 maikans attacking the chapel right? Try placing a spike trap and shouting to draw them to you.

im not sure exactly what ch it is, but there is 1 that atacks the chapel, one that starts kinda near the barn but attacks the cabin, another that is in the WAAAAAYYYYYYYY lower right corner. I used firewalls to make their paths as long as i possibly could and to channel them all into that tight little path to the west of the cabin.

then i would take a zipline to the chapal and shoot the trap after the maikain warrior went into it, then axe him for the kill. then zipline back to the cabin

the other 2 maikains and 5 wolves that i managed to channal into the same narrow path (at differing speeds and times) are chewing on the cabin when i get back.

i manage to kill the wolves but them im out of stamina and the wolves delayed me long enough that i couldnt get to the traps to stop the maikain, because the wolvs are on my cabin.

i ended up getting lucky to get through it, by dodging and such.

gotta say its refreshing to play a game that does not pander its normal mode difficulty to be too easy. i am a gamer by nature, since i was a child. now im 26. so many games today forgo real difficulty for a grind.

any chance of speeding ziplines up at all? or maybe making it more of one action than 4 actions?

maybe if you tap E you go to the top, but if you hold it you go directly to the line.

continue to hold E while on the line to go directly to the ground, let it go while on the line to go to the watch tower.

that would cut the keypresses alot and make it much smoother to zip around.
The challenge this game offers is one of the reasons I love it so much. It's not a trivial matter to make it through the more advanced nights farther into the game. You have to plan diligently and save up to buy the right equipment. Then there is the variable of luck you encounter during the night combat. If you repeat a lot you'll notice the timing is never exactly the same. A net trap or spike trap may work perfectly fine one night's play, but not on an immediate replay of the exact same set-up. It's lovely as there is a definite challenge to make your plan execute as smoothly as you'd like it to without some little timing hitch or mistake on your part throwing your timing off, presenting the challenge of trying to recover on the fly and make it all work anyway. :D

As for the ziplines, I don't have much of a problem with their speed, although I do find the key press spamming you have to do to on the top of the platform annoying, when you want to get on the horizontal zipline after using the vertical to get up there in the first place. It's kinda finicky and feels like it takes too many button presses and time. Not efficient. I'd like a smoother transition at the top, from the vertical to horizontal ziplines. Having to run across the platform to the right location to pick up the horizontal zipline, while feeling the time crunch, is hella irritating at times. Granted, it is a minor annoyance/frustration in the scheme of things, but little fixes that smooth out the gameplay and increase efficiency are the kind of things I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ love. ;)

Ah ok you are talking about ch.10! Ok well what you could do for the second wave (at least what I do) provided you have the same skills is; you can place 3 poisonous bait to kill all of the wolves (places them at a distance from each other along the path the wolves will take), and you can simply ignore them after that. For all the Maikans in the southern part of the map, if you block off the appropriate paths with fire walls (hard to explain exactly the spots in text, but I could provide a screenshot if you are curious :P) you can kill all 3 with a spike trap (placed just north west of Jack's Cabin) by turned the wind with the Egg of Metshu amulet and attracting all 3 of them onto it. Then you simply take the zip line north to deal with the last Warrior attacking the Chapel and you're done ;).

For the zip line speed, someone else mentioned something about that. As we probably will not increase the speed of the anims, the recognition of you being next to the zip line could be faster for sure, so we will look into it.
"the recognition of you being next to the zip line could be faster for sure." Pure gold; awesome Duomtl! That'd be great. :)
Spike traps work so well just under the zipline stands ... just saying ... =]
Can you centre the spike trap under the zipline stand... because if so that'd be damn genius amazin' bordering on exploit. I must try this dev, thx! >:D
Yeppers! This game really is wonderful to figure out crazy combos with the traps, but the above was one of my traps du jour – enjoy! =]
awesome. even if the speed stayed the same if i could stand on the ground and just HOLD E and zip up to the tower and then as soon as he pops up just place him on the line. no need to walk 4 feet on top of the tower
Thanks for the good comments!
