dof.exe has stopped working
I have followed every tutorial, every thread, every bit of advice on how to fix this issue. I have re-aquired the game from a working system, Deleted every scrap of data and re-downloaded it, and given permissions, exceptions, etc. I've played this game since beta and sadly i'm just done. I have no idea what happened in this latest patch to just destroy my game, but i'm just tired of playing at being some kinda comp tech. That's your job.

I get the same error every time I press the magnifier button to zoom into the local combat map.

Goin to post it as well.

Reaper,

When exactly does this happen? If it happens on start, you just need to delete local_saved_data.

1) Click on the organizer button in any folder. And select Folder and Search options. Go to view, and under Hidden Files and Folders, or Drives - click show hidden files.
2) Now navigate to C:/users/YOUR USERNAME/AppData/local/DoF/
3) In that file, locate and delete file called local_saved_data

Rove - in your case this is a different issue - DoF.exe has Stopped Working simply means that the game crashes. We haven`t heard about anyone else having these zoom in crash issues.

It would really help if you could tell us what visual settings you have set in the Options. And if it happens in any region in particular or anywhere on the worldmap.

Sorry to hear about this. Please go through suggestions here.

The only other possibility is if you have a very old video card that doesn`t meet minimal requirements and doesn`t support Shaders V2. But lets assume that`s not the case, please follow instructions in this post:

Before trying anything else please try this
Re-Validating game files on Steam may often fix start-up issues as well as help player who are experience frequents crashes and other bugs
1) Open Steam find DoF in the Library
2) Right click on DoF, and go to Game Properties
3) In Game properties click on Local Files, and select Re-validate game files.

Game Crashes on Startup on First Run
If you are getting a crash the first time you are starting DoF, please follow these steps
1) make sure you restart the computer before playing - if you haven`t this could cause that.
2) Disable Anti Virus and Firewall - and if that works set DoF.exe and or Mithrill.dll as exception
3) Try installing C runtime libraries. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5555
4) Try getting the latest .Net Framework For Desktop - http://www.microsoft.com/net/download
5) Uninstall the game on Steam (delete local files), and re-download
6) Set Administrative Permissions
-Go to your steam directory ex: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Dawn of Fantasy
-Alter the properties of Dof.exe
-Compatibility Tab Check "Run this program as an administrator" and also check compatibility mode for "Windows 7"
-If you get Microsoft Visual c++ error box, do not close it - just play and ignore the error

played for ages so no prob with g/card crashes started yesterday
crashes to dof exe message and windows always in sieges both co op and solo
but not every siege, gave up for now testing to see what triggers it losing too many units in payoffs when it happens, sent the log files in again
and local app files were deleted a few days ago
ill try again if that makes a diff
last time we had this it didnt make any diff
that was after a big patch too bout 7 or 8 mths ago
