Building my first ship was fun. It had a couple issues, namely that they gave you too many free parts instead of, say, a budget and a store, but it was fun to put a ship together from scratch(ish, it is modular after-all).
But you hit launch with every anticipation and you get. . . ugh.
X3 and Eve Online, pick solo or MMO and go play, because this? Not worth the time. To be perfectly honest, I warped to an asteroid, started mining, looked around empty space for a few minutes, realized how long mining was going to take, adn then? Then I realized the 'world' was far too empty to have anything to do with, to spend that kind of time waiting, especially without at least a chat-box to pass the time! Seriously, I cannot understand why games that cannot compete with such old predecessors keep getting released. The best game to come out since either of those was S.P.A.Z. . . which isn't exactly the same kind of game really, but it does the job. So, you could buy that instead as well. It isn't so much with the full-immersion 'you are your ship' exploration thing, but it is a solid game.
