Good idea to make a separated tread for this LT!

Having had a quick scroll through this forum and the screenshots, it is clear that my shipbuilding skills lie in utility rather than beauty...

Are you guys building with sufficient crew space, reactors under hull plating etc?

None of my subsystem are built because they are barely implemented i am waiting for them to be done before adding pointless system

Sounds reasonable.

LT - crew requirements seem pretty prohibitive just now, particularly at the smaller end of the crewed ship scale, even working on the assumption that you only need a third as many beds as you need crew because of shift patterns. Might need a rebalance...

Everything needs and will get a rebalance this is all first pass, after all of our systems are online we will go back and start balancing.

I find implimenting SubSys's is part of the fun! Trying to figure out what I need versus what room I have available. I've found that the bigger the ship, the harder it is to get enough power to make the amount of engines needed to move it is quite a challenge.

One word for you - gaspods! They have the same volume as other modules but are much littler so you can slip them between your other hulls and load them up with your most important systems - mainly reactors.

I would like to politely disagree with you there, I feel that smaller ships are harder to design because you need to max your speed:firepower ratio and only have the tier 1 items with which to do it, if you have a dreadnought the you can place loads of tier 1 or 2 gas pods to cover the deficit, the problem with small fighter craft is that the gas pods are a tenth of your ship. Another advantage of a capital ship is that you do not need to be highly manoverable, whereas with a fighter if you are slow you have lost the only real benifit of small craft.

I have a few fighters but I cant seem to do anything about the durability I have about 7 sheild/armor subsystems on one and about 13 on another while I can take about 30-40 hits in the first one and about 60-80 in the second one I do jack to the enemy, Does Scale affect weapon Damage?

Me to buddy, I try and I try but I always end up with utilitarian designs - sometimes I get lucky...and its good looking...and I save that and upload it to the workshop...

As for the crew req thing... when it says my heavy fighter needs 42 crew...I tend to just put in 20 of each req. and forget about the other 22...
