Skirmish Mode
While building a new ship and thinking about taking screenshots for the game, it occured to me that a skirmish mode, or quick battle mode, will not only be very helpful for setting up screenshots, but will also be a lot of fun.

Basically it would work like this:
-pick your ship
-pick number of enemy ships
-pick which ship(s) enemy will use
-pick size of enemy ships
-pick a start distance from enemy (50km, 100km, etc.)
-Play!

Any thoughts?

That sounds like fun :P

Again, great idea Wickerson! I think it would be cool if i could choose my own ships as an enemy.

Also as a second thougt: What about a "ship testing mode" there you can add different ships for better screenshots or something else, so you can make screenshots of a fleet. I really want to make screenshots of a hole armada if possible. But thats just an idea and I know how hard the devs are working to publish the next update D10 :)

However i also have one question: At the beginning then i bought Kinetic Void (I don't remember which stage Kinetic Void was in this moment) everytime i made a ship, it also spawned in my random universe as an enemy. Is that still the case? If not (What im thinking) would it be possible if I could choose which of my ships will be used for other factions and which not. Only if the devs want to insert it again.

Greetings Borat :)

Hi Borat, I believe that any ship you create can be used by the AI, friendly or enemy. So if you create a ship it can spawn as a enemy or friendly ship.

And I agree, choosing which ships are the enemy would be essential. So basically the "skirmish" mode would be a great way to quickly test our creations in combat. And will be a great way to set up some excellent screenshots and gameplay videos.

Armadas woud be pretty cool; there would have to be an option to set up formations for groups of ships. I can see that option taking a lot of time to implement however. I know a little bit about coding, enough to know that even the simplest functions can take hours (or even days) to do. So if they did implement formations it would likely be in a later update.

But it will look totally awesome!

I think the skirmish/test mode could be done fairly quickly using existing code, and I'd hope to see it (if they decide to implement it) within a few updates. But they are very busy already, and are working on lots of other cool stuff.

Hey Borat and Wick, letting you know I got your suggestions, passed them along to the guys and they're mulling them over ;)
Lord Borat Feb 20 @ 1:45pm
Yep i totally i agree with you Wickerson and i think i have nothing to say anymore, but i really hope your "Skirmish Mode" can be implemented. However it depends on the developers and I'm already glad that I have the possibility to improve this game with my suggestions.

Didn't saw that you answered Kaypix ^^

Thank you that you took the time and also for the quick response!

That was a fast response! Thank you Kaypix.

Ya this would be awsome. I have always loved having a skirmish feature in a game. It is a very cool way of testing your ships and getting better at the game. :D

Yup, and a great way to kill 15 minutes.

:D

I really like the sound of a skirmish mode, especially one where you could potentially design a ton of capital ships and then set them against each other. Battle of Coruscant anyone?
Wickerson Mar 10 @ 5:05pm
Sirgrif, that sounds like a really fun idea!
Lord Borat Mar 11 @ 1:39am
Haha, yes of course!
aether.tech Mar 11 @ 10:00am
I'm voting for Skirmish mode too!

It occurred to me that another item for skirmish mode would be the option to choose your environment (ie.) asteriod field, orbiting a planet, ancient battlefield, nebula, etc.
Lord Borat Mar 19 @ 7:39am
Yes, thats a great idea.
