Career- Built a Big Ship, Now What?
I think KV is lacking a sense of direction in career mode. What is the reason for collecting credits besides having something to do? Yes, you use them to build bigger, more powerful ships, but to what end is that? What am I going to do with a bigger ship that I couldn't do in a smaller ship? In many other popular space sims (Freelancer, Galaxy on Fire) the enemies got more difficult and advanced as you completed the story. Collecting credits to buy better weapons/ships was nesscesary to keep pace with more powerful enemies and to progress in the story. Since there is no progressing story in KV, there seems to be little motivation to do much anything.

What if every star system had its own difficulty? The player would spawn in an easy difficulty system. The systems in the middle of the map would be easier and as one travel further from the center, ships would gradually be better armed and armored. One could earn more credits in harder difficulty systems enticing him/her to build bigger and bigger ships that can survive in more and more difficult systems.

You have to remember that the game is still in development, there are a lot of things to fix, AND to add to it.

Just trying to shed light on a possible problem, that's all.

Its too early to focus on a story for players "to have something to do." The game is in Alpha we all bought into it in this stage knowing this. In a way we paid to be testers. Thats what we are doing right now is testing. I have no doubt that there will be a story or objective for career mode.
For now, what is the point? To make more money. Why? Because that is the point to life in this day and age, to become successful and independant. So when your playing career mode, keep that in mind. What are you doing? Trying to become an entrepreneur. Why? So you can have a nice space house with a hot model space wife and take cruises on your space yacht.
In time they will give you some personal reason. Aliens killed your father. Some faction shot your dog. Your ex betrayed you and left you for dead. You are the Dovahkiin, etc. For now, just RP it and relax, we are just starting this ride.

I like this game, but im very sceptical if there will ever be enough content in that game to make it a place you want to be. Cant believe that the engine will ever simulate a living space. I miss communication (voices) and tons of other things that would make the space intersting and i dont think they can handle it with this engine and with the amount of money they be in.

A Multiplayer should be more easy to do because of the community who could make this place alive.
