D13.3 BUG Resolved!
I have compiled a list of all the bugs I am currently experiencing.

Count of Days since issue was posted: 3
Is issue resolved: Somewhat

Shipyard Bugs:
1. I lose control of the camera sometimes, and become unable to rotate around my ship. A restart usually fixes this.
2. Angle snap behaves erratically, 5 degree behaves like 15 degree, 45 degree sometimes behaves like 90 degree and other times behaves like 120 degrees. I have never had 45 degree angle snap work for 45 degrees.
3. RESOLVED: Unpredictably sometimes ship modules wont go away; I can't select them to delete them.
SOLUTION: Don't start with mirror.
4. As above except they wont go away even when a new ship is loaded so 2 ships partially mesh together.

5. Mirror won't mirror, it displaces the mirror in weird ways, It never lines up with the other object.

In Space Bugs:
1. My camera will randomly decided to offset itself far above my ship in follow camera mode.
2. RESOLVED: Space stations have these weird 'ring' like tears ripple across them as I move by them.
3. RESOLVED: Weaponized Lasers, not mining lasers, lasers rapidly flick all over the place when firing as if attempting to shoot all over the ship, it looks awful.
5. RESOLVED: Newtonian Flight makes enemy missile behavior erratic. They start teleporting randomly around me, including moving far faster than they should to keep up with me.
6. Enemies begin firing at me outside of 100km which I know no weapon has the range for, this includes all forms of weaponry.

In Space on the HUD Bugs:
4. Locks sometimes fail to go away.
5. Enemy HUD icons stay red after locking and unlocking targets.
6. The selection circle stays on all objects selected EVER, and never goes away.

General Bugs:
1. The Hiigaran Battlecruiser was added to the NPC ship list when I did not have it subscribed and nor did I have it placed in the NPC ship list folder

New After Uninstalling:
1. Can no longer place certain weapon hardpoints, 9 is especially buggy.
2. Can no longer place any tier 5 hardpoints.
3. All bugs above New After Uninstalling still occur as well.

EDIT:
On further investigation I can no longer place weapon hardpoints at all on the ship I am currently constructing. Of any tier.

If you look at the above picture and think "what it looks fine to me" that is the point, I also see no reason for it to be unable to have more weapon hardpoints and yet it cannot.

Below I will list the current chronologically sequenced steps I have taken to ensure the games stability, something which still eludes me -_-.

1. Verify Game Cache
2. Reacquire verify failed Game Cache files
3. Sit furious for a moment.
4. Uninstall and Reinstall Game.

As of yet no bugs have been fixed, this leads me to the conclusion that either there is some greater issue with my computer or the problem is on Kinetic Voids side, I prefer to think the latter, given my computer runs every other game I have just fine.

Why this post has almost grown to be a novel.

Yes, it said one file failed to verify, then reacquired the file and it got worse.
Worse:
The above listed bugs happened with more frequency, and often occurred simultaneously.

Is it safe to uninstall the game and reinstall it?
Or would I lose all my ship designs?

It would be safer to back them up just to make sure windows doesn't delete them. They are located in your "\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\common\Kinetic Void\SaveFiles" These will save the the ships you have created. The subscription ships are saved over in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\XXXXXXXX\227160\remote" if you want to save any of the subscription ships that have been modified.

Thank you. I will uninstall and reinstall and get back to you with the results.

You were incorrect as to the location of my ships they are in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\XXXXXXXX\227160\remote".

All I found in "\Steam\SteamApps\common\Kinetic Void\SaveFiles" were the default ships you people added to this game, and my custom ships I wanted the NPCs' to draw from, the ships I manually put in that folder.

EDIT:
After having successfully uninstalled and reinstalled I now have more bugs. They have been posted in the original post under New after uninstalling.

Further more, none of the ships were deleted with the game, so as a point of reference in the future, custom ships are not deleted with the game. They reside in account information and are unaffected by game deletes.

Shipyard Bugs:
1) Not sure about this one honestly as the times it has been reported in the past it has been an all or nothing type thing. Meaning that the pan and rotate around the ship doesn't work from the first load of the game. The way they have fixed this is to reset the default key binds as they are typically messed up and not registering the right and left clicks correctly.

2) I have not seen nor have had this issue reported before now. Are you seeing this not work correctly when you press the [Q]/[E] keys or under the fine tune tool after you have placed the part on the ship?

3) The issue of parts persisting between ships being loaded was corrected in the live patch the only way this has not been corrected is if during ship building you use the mirrored placement for the very first piece as I still need to go back and add some error handling and logic in for that.

4) See the post above to answer this question.

5) Can I ask what you mean by the mirror won't mirror? The only time I have an issue with this is if I get caught up on one of the ridges of a part and then the mirrored part is 1 or 2 ridges off. This feature was just implemented 2 patches ago counting this one currently, so there is always going to be tweaks and adjustments to fine tune it.


Sector Bugs:
1)If the camera is centered and above your ship it may be because you pressed the [ ` ] key by accident? This key is set to recenter the camera back behind the ship but we offset it so it is a bit higher so you are not just staring at your engines.

2)We are working on getting the overlap between the multiple cameras correct as if there is to much over lap there is a performance hit and if there isn't enough overlap you see the tearing effect you mentioned.

3)Sorry you think they look awful. We used to turn them off so that the laser wouldn't fire at all if it was going to miss. But then people thought that their weapons weren't firing, so we turn it back and and are in the process of tweaking them.

4) To work around an issue with the game engine we have to use a floating origin, currently the missile trails are not hooked up to this as they are different the mesh/particles and have given us some grief.

5) There are at less 3 weapons that I know of that either have a range of 100km or larger.


In Sector Hud
1) Can you clarify what you mean by locks sometimes don't go away? How are you trying to unlock the target?

2) This isn't a bug you have target locked onto them. Just because you unlock doesn't mean they are going to be friendly with you again.

3)I have not seen this issue before or had it reported.

It might be best if you send in your debug log as you are having issues that I haven't seen anyone else have.

I have responded to you with in a timely manner, your first post was on a Sunday. I responded back first thing Monday morning. Your last post on Monday was you would re-install the game and the report back. So I was waiting to get a report back from you, which you posted yesterday along with an attack on me about saying how rude I was being. Normally when people are having issues that aren't being reported by the mass users there is a corrupt file or other issues. Hence why I asked if you have verified your integrity yet as that should also be the first thing you do if you are having troubles with any game. Looking at the screen shot you posted yesterday shows me that you have not updated the game to the live build which fixed some of the issue that you were having in the Developmental build.

Shipyard Bugs:
1) The camera stops rotating at random, not from load.

2) From the start of free form angle snap, I realize I have never had it work properly.
It sometimes works after I toggle it to free angle to angle snapped but that works for one module, and only sometimes.

This link shows me using angle snap on 5 degree, it took 9 angle snap ticks to get from 0 degrees to 90 degrees, 90/9=10 not 5. It is not behaving like 5 degree angle snap.

3) I could quite possible have done that with previous ships.

5) On further examination your previous patch appears to have fixed this one.

Sector Bugs:
1) Its not centered and above, its centered and WAY above, as in my ship is not on screen until I fully zoom out, to the max outward zoom. pressing ~ doesn't fix it, it simple cycles between the function free camera and the broken follow camera.

5) That all AI are given? as in a rapid fire spray of bullets and missiles?

In Sector HUD
1) By standard means, using the unlock shortcut, it sometimes fails to go away.

2) For asteroids as well?

3) I start locking targets and selecting more and next thing I realize i have multiple selection circles on multiple targets, its a bit of a pain to figure out which one is actually being targeted.

I will launch the game and get screenshots since you seem so inclined to call me a liar.

Yes you're being punished because you can't read We only do development builds during the first week of the month. Then we push it live and disable the dev build until the following month.

We work very hard to help everyone while working on our current tasks, I advise being a little more pleasant in your posting behavior.

The asteroid with the normal selection circle is not being selected, the asteroid to the left of the one I am shooting at is being selected.
The red asteroid to the left of it is also locked but its lock decided to go away, on top of all of that I can only shoot at the one asteroid, the one in the picture that is being shot at.
It is hard to word properly if you need clarification just ask.

I am now shooting at a targeted but not targeted asteroid and can no longer unlock locks.

I think you just dont understand how the targeting works. First your weapons will only track and shoot at things within their arc of fire. In the first image, you have two asteroids locked, and your weapon group 2 is set to fire on Asteroid 3 (this is locked into the third slot of your targeting array. You have manually selected another asteroid. If you press [C] again, it will now acquire target lock on the asteroid to the right.

Depending on your ship you have a limited number of targets you can have a lock on. The striker for example can only have 3 max target locks, check the sensor info pane in the shipyard for this number.

We will use the Striker for our example. Every time a target lock is acquired, they are bound to a target slot, 1, 2 and 3. This correlates to F1, F2, and F3. This means if you have three targets locked you can press any of these three keys to toggle through the active lock selection. You can tell which is your lock selection because the target ring starts out small and slowly grows, then repeats. Now lets say you decide to clear your lock on F2, you can either click the X on its image in the target array (upper left corner) or you can press [Shift] + [F#] where F# is the corresponding key. Now if you clear F2, and still have a lock in F3, it will move the lock from F3 to F2, and if you clear F1 it will then slide F2 to F1s slot.

Once you have an active target (the pulsing retractile) you can select weapon groups to fire at it, this is the keys 1 - 7 after you assign a weapon group to fire at the target you will see the small square in the target array turn white, they go top, left to right 1 - 4, then 5 - 8 though we are technically not using 8 at the moment. If you press that number key again, you will un-assign the weapon group on that target. Even if a weapon group is assigned it will only fire if its within its arch, and the logic can predict a reasonable chance of hit.

Target locking is a hostile action, and will mark them red on your hud, even if you clear the lock.

In your second issue I don't see your ship shooting anything. and your weapon groups are not assigned to fire on your only locked target.

Okay mabye I don't get the lock on system.
I just figured that having a lock on that disappears from my hud and prevents me from getting further lock ons was a bug.

In my case my ship can have 3 lock ons.
In the first picture it has 2 and is unable to get a third because the farthest left red asteroid is its third lock on, it just wont show up on the hud or let me select the asteroid.
