I am not sure I only paid $4.48 for it. E_A title and also a indie title as well. I love space simulations so I am hoping this goes in a good direction.

That depends very much on your definition of "worth" and how you view the product as a whole (as in "big picture"). Right now it's a game that's in development, it's not complete and doesn't have many of the features / game mechanics the devs ultimately intend to include by Final Release.

Do you like the description of the game, the mechanics and features that are planned for the game when it's complete and ready for it's official release? If "yes" then you essentially have two choices, buy it now while it's cheaper (especially since it's on sale) and have access to the game as it's being developed and a full copy when it's finished or wait til it's fully complete and pay the full price for the full game later on.

My personal take on it is that for me it's an investment, I like the potential the game has and what the devs are trying to do with it so I brought it a few months back. I'll play it on and off, check out new updates / features and look forward to getting my hands on the final product when it's finished.

Seen too many "investors" get burned to want to do that anymore, have done that several times but am thinking those days are done. I guess what I really am asking is, is there enough fun to be had to justify the purchase at this time?

That's also my question. Several of these Alpha games disappeare or fail after a time, either from waning intrest or lack of funds. Their deaths are understandable, but it leaves alpha adopters and investors hanging.

To purchase into this game, even for US$6, I'd want to make sure I'm going to get at least 6 bucks of enjoyment out of it....for me, I measure a games worth based on the amount of time I'd most likely willing to sink into it and one hour per dollar spent....so the question being, if this game sudden crapped out and dev halted, is there enough in it to get 6 hours of fun out of it, or would it be 6 hours of annoyance?

I have it and I can say that no its not worth it yet.
sure youll spend few hours messing around with ship desighns but in the end there isnt much to do yet. Youll just heckticly fly around trying to start fights and Im sad to say this but fights feel rather dull

sure they have more realistic space controls and not jet controls that we are used to.
So speeding up battleship to XXXX speed and then makingi t do a turn is pain in the ♥♥♥.

Id compare it to EVE online without all the cool features. you fly the ship more responsivly with SWAD then EVEs double clicking but the concept of hitting F1 and watching your ship shoot is still the same as the guns track automaticly.

altho unlike in EVE you have to make sure that as many as guns have a tracking range on the target for them to shoot so that can lead to outmanuvering of sort or taking DMG on parts of a ship that you dont mind exploding

But still if I had the choice to go back I wouldnt buy it and wait a little bit more

If you've not already done so, you may want to give Pioneer a go, think Elite First Encounter style gameplay. It's free too ;)

Well, i'm not a fan of adventure games, but this game seems interesting. Im going to DL it because of .... well ... it's 6 bucks.. in germany its the same amount of money like a cigarette box, what i'm trying to say, It's quite money, but well its not that much and how often we've bought other crap ^^.... I'll give it a try.. Just to build my own oppinion

sometime I wish resources are not that spread and something like this is offered as payed DLC/expansion for X game where there is no ship designing aspect at all :/ And egosoft would do the rest.
Tooslow Oct 1, 2013 @ 12:18pm
I always wanted to just customize my ships in X3 the way the pirates did. Just a snazzy paint job would have been something but maybe X: Rebirth will have ship design eventually. Why not?

Not worth it. I want my money back. This wasn't even negative alpha quality when released, and still isn't, six months later.

This. It has some semi cool working features but it is still a long way away from being a nice working game. Check back at a later date and ask again, probably in like 6 months at its current pace, MAYBE.

well op if the game is worth it, then its worth waiting for the next sale and observing it?

I bought fallout new vegas in 2009, but didnt open it or play it till 2012 (mods, patches, unofficial patches before i will touch a bethsoft game),

It was the best game i ever played, age didnt effect it one bit, right now im playing oblivion again and im loving it just as much as i did in 2007, so yeah if anything just wait man, it cant hurt.

This game will be more expensive on release, $29.99, if I recall. The current sale price makes it worth sitting on, if you have even half an interest in the concept, imo. I bought if for that reason, and haven't monkeyed with it yet, but I will say throwing the new player straight into ship construction is a little daunting.

yeah but on release it will be a complete game too wont it? you dont want to burn yourself out on a game before the game is even done do ya? (i did that on minecraft)
