YOUR ships are here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\55107770\227160\remote (where 55107770 is your user Id# and 227160 is our app ID #)

Those STARTER ships that are in the dropdown box when you go to make a new galaxy are here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Kinetic Void\SaveFiles\Starter

Ships you've made and uploaded to the WORKSHOP or SUBSCRIBED to from the Workshop and have saved on your account are here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\55107770\227160\remote
Um...on that one, the 55107770 is your steam user ID number, then the 227160 is the app# for Kinetic Void.

There's also the Local file in that same area
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\55107770\227160\local\subscribed ships
Those are all just stored as jibberish numbers, I'm sure there's a way to keep track of which is which, but honestly it's just easier to read it in the local file since it gives the ships their names back. Again, the 55107770 is MY steam ID #, yours will obviously be different, then 227160 is the App # for Kinetic Void.

NPC ships spawn from here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Kinetic Void\SaveFiles
So if you want to add to the pool of ships the NPCs CAN use (don't have to but it's a random chance that they can spawn), simply add the subscribed ship files into the SaveFiles list.

I hope that helps :)

Heads up, if you drop a ship file into a faction's folder, that'll be the ONLY ship that faction will ever spawn, like, e-e-e-e-e-v-v-v-v-e-e-e-r-r-r-r , so do so with caution ;)

None of my ships save to the 'SaveFiles' folder since 0.03 last year. Every ship I've created and saved goes to '..\Steam\userdata\<SteamID>\227160\remote', including the six newest ones I made for D11.

Whoops, that might be my-bad...I manually put all my ships into my Save Ships file so that way the NPCs can spawn from that whole list :D Thanks for pointing that out Winter, I'll update my response :D
