Can someone catch me up on the current state of this?
I've been looking at the store page and the forum and I can't tell, is the game 'finished'? What I mean is that is it still in development in the sense of content updates or in the sense of not being 'done' yet?

If you are looking for a game that will let you flex your creative muscles design your dream ship and then fly it against the rest of the universe (populated by other players' dream ships via Steam Workshop) then yes, this game is 'finished'.

That aspect aside, there are a lot of features not implemented yet as far as actual gameplay outside teh ship[builder and workshop. Still a good space pew pew game as long as you aren't expecting a Star Citizen level game.

Hmm, I was just trying to work out where we were up to. I backed this on Kickstarter but it's been a long time since an update was posted. I'm not really a Steam user, but the forum link on the game's site brought me here.

I was having a hard time working out what was going on, from the lack of Kickstarter updates it seemed totally abandoned but it seems like there is some activity and the devs just haven't posted to KS in a long time. I was confused because the game wasn't 'early access' any more, but there was no mention of a release on KS. In fact, there's been nothing since early 2014!

I guess I'll keep waiting then!

This is the completed game. There hasnt been any development twords it because it's beyond the skillset of the developers.

I can't tell, are you just being cynical or have the developers declared the game finished?

Glad I read up on what happened to this game and it's developers. So many early access games that go unfinished, what a waste. Frankly, I wish Steam would implement a voting feature to have these games removed from Steam all together.

So... the game is definitely abandoned? That's a shame.

Well, that would be nice to hear from him. The last bit of info that is directly from him anywhere on these forums is insulting the community and declaring he will be likely to abandon the forums at least. However as a potiential buyer I am not going to purchase what at least seems to be abandoned, or poorly managed. He needs to maintain a line of communication with those of us looking at his creation, and learn to not wear that chip on his shoulder ignore the internet trolls.

I can't, he hasn't given me my kickstarter copy of the game yet. =(

See this update: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/seanpollman/kinetic-void/posts/367377

"I know some of you are dead set against Steam and that is fine, not only will every Kickstarter backer receive a Steam key for Kinetic Void but your account on BadlandStudio.com will be given access to a standalone download. If for some reason you don't want your steam key, feel free to give it to a friend, consider it our gift to you!"

Because I'm not really a Steam user, as per his suggestion I gave my key to a friend. I'm waiting on the standalone version.

The only reason I'm even posting here is because the forum link on Badland's site now leads here instead of to their own forum...

I redact my last post. I was purely upset because this game is beautiful very fun! After doing a lot of reading about lumbering hes trying really hard and hasn't given up. It seems he has a great passion for this game. Just with his ex designers had the same passion.

Still doesn't help me much, I've yet to get my copy of the game... I guess they don't consider the game finished and are waiting until it's finished before giving backers their rewards. Still, it seems like since the future of the game is unsure they should do a standalone DRM-free version now.
