Why is this game being sold right now?
I'm trying to be critical, rather than needlessly negative.

But why is this being sold on steam?

This isn't a game yet, but it is still being sold as such.
I get that this is labeled as early access but the state of this game is pretty ridiculous.

Having this for sale on steam in this state can only hurt the game and even the studio behind it.
A lot of people who buy this will probably be so put off by it that they will discourage other people from ever buying it.

If there was a demo/free version than that would be a bit better, but it would still have the problem that this is an uncooked game that is being presented to the public.

Most people won't care about the early access tag, they will just end finding out about the state of this and then be completely turned off of this game.

Early Acess.

Meaning:

The Developers, which are a small team will a little budget, need money so they can work on the game. By going in early acess, they get money so they can work on the project. It's the same thing as a kickstarter.

If people can't read warnings, that's their own fault.

right, its being sold as early acess, but the fact that the devs wanted to release it at the beginning of 2013 and its still in this condition.... if you look at the timeline and the actual progress, this game is mostlikely released in 1 year or 2... or never....

sorry about the english

and it's a "new" alpha version just version 0.021. there is still a long and hard way if they want pass the beta...so help the game to grow up!

Yeah, the more who buy, the quicker it finishes. Plus, since you got the alpha, you can talk to the dev. I've seen him patrolling around this community hub.

First impressions are important to everything.

If most people's first impression of this game is what this game is currently like than the game will suffer from it.

Basically they use down payment to get lots of cash, then we can only hope that greed does not overcome them and they actualy make a decent game with the newer, better buget.

I have paid, and supported the devs for this game, and proudly believe that this game could grow to something so gratifying on a cosmic scale!, that it will keep me busy/entertained for years to come. be patient mate, there is more to come. :)
HOWEVER with that being said, the game is pre-alpha. there are gaps to fill.
but i can see Valnars point.
there isnt much to do yet besides

1.build your ships. (which has so far proven to be a bit buggy)
2.and fly around aimlessly in space. (which is proving to be difficult as there is no HUD, keybindings, or zoom/target cam) -- also i cant seem to make my ships go faster than 0.50kms
without useing the kinetic field generators (space coasting) which to me is tedious.
3.shoot other random ships that strike red... which is equally buggy and tedious.
and half the time my guns/cannons/turrets wont hit sh!t unless im right on top of them, and even then it does... no damage. at all. none. subsequently the other craft turns around and pops me in 2-3 hits. no matter what armor, ship size or class, position. or maybe im just really bad.

i quess in review. my point is.

yea, it pretty much sucks now valnar, but be patient and have faith, it will get better.
at least our opinions are being heard right? right?

also any advice would be appeciated. :)

If it was just a tag, I'd agree. But, there are two giant blue boxes that warn you about early access. So ...

This game is in early alpha stage, which means, that more than 70% content of the final release is missing. It seems like you're new to alpha/beta testing. Try read something about it. Most of the games are now being sold in Alpha/Beta stages so the community can actually help developers with their game. Just give it some time. And instead posting topic how bad the game is, you can actually play the game, search for bugs and post them here. Welcome to the Alpha testing!

Frankly, I bought this game understanding that it was incomplete. But I was still shocked by how incomplete it is. In fact, I was shocked that they considered that there was anything to actually play in the game to justify selling it. I want my money back.

I don't think that it will ever be finished, and if it does it will be superceded by some future game before these guys finish. I didn't fund it on Kickstarter because I wanted to buy something playable, not risk my money on a long shot. I feel like I've been duped.

I liked the idea (loved the idea), but I didn't fund it on Kickstarter simply because I wanted to be a consumer of a finished product, not a venture capitalist.

Nothing the play? The shipbuilder itself is worth the money. And seriously, we're not talking about a 60$ game, you probably paid 20 or even less if you got it in sale. You shouldn't even complain and only come back later.

It's really, really not. Samuel should have known better than buying a work in progress when wanting something with the playability of a finished product, but don't lie like that. The current shipbuilder is a long ways from not being a total chore.

I bought it because I think it could turn into something really special. That being said I don't plan on even trying to play it until it gets a little further along.. I'm pretty patient though so that doesn't bother me at all.

I can not stand early releases where you have minimal contact with developer they should spend the few working mins of each day answer questions of forums like the good alpha game studios are doing. Kenshi, Gemeni and edge of space just to name a few games.

-------------
I personally will not be purchasing another alpha if they do not add 20 mins on to their day to answer what essentially are their investors.

I knew what this game was going in, I got it on sale and I am happy with the price. I just wanted to lock in the low price

You should read the forums and reviews to know what you are getting into before you purchase though. It is your job to understand your investment in an indie game. But I do agree with you it needs to be made the state of the..."game"

With that I wish the developers great luck and an expedient delivery.

I kinda got it, made a ship (which is the fun part), then started the game itself and realised that it really sucks right now. But yeah it's early access. To be honest the trailer probably needed a lot of editing to make the graphics look so good.
