Future multiplayer, server and additional content?
I know that multiplayer and modding is a little ways away for this game but I am curious as to how they will be handled. I feel this game could become big, especialy when multiplayer comes around. So here are my questions. Will a dedicated server program be available? This would be nice so that the communities that sprout around this game do not need to keep an instance of the game perpetualy running just to keep their universe alive. My other question is this, How will modded content be handled when it comes to multiplayer? I know that I plan on making a few modules when modding tools or tutorials crop up. For these custom modules to show up on another persons client will they be required to have them installed? or will the files be sent from the running server to their client, like a mini content patch? I have seen this done in the cube engine and custom textures, can it or would it be practicle to implement the same system here. However it is taken care of one thing is sure, alot of time will have to be alocated into the multiplayer system so that when a player comes online with custom content it does not kick other players or reset/crash the running server. Well thanks for listening to my speal, can't wait to see how this game will progress

I'm pretty sure the multiplayer will work almost exactly how Minecraft multiplayer works.

We have not started any work on multiplayer so nothing is decided or defined.

i will like to see some form of a multiplayer because just AI can become boring after a short/long time. plus this game looks Awsome!

That is what I am hoping for myself. I was part of the WTSworld freelance group, but that died and I hope this game serves the base for new comunities to rally around

I would LOVE if something came along that presented a superior experience to Freelancer -- Nothing has succeeded in what it delivered on, even after all this time. (Openlancer was looking like the perfect replacement, but that fell apart long ago...) I was part of the TNG 2.7x crowd myself, and still occasionally load it up with friends for LAN.

Here's to the (far?) future when KV has multiplayer!
